What’s the difference between the Colorado Rockies and the Colorado Republican Party? . . .
. . . There’s a couple of folks who may still be pretending to hold out some hope for the Rockies.
Well, the Rockies are not only paying staff, they're also sending cash to other teams who are willing to take the Rockies' best players in lopsided trades. So, there's that…
The Rockies are very good at fleecing fans by consistently failing to compete. Unfortunately, the Monforts are blessed with a fanbase they don't deserve at all. Luckily, I'm a lifelong Dodgers' fan, so I get to see my team play in October.
Who can forget Dick Monfort's lack of gratitude? https://www.nbcsports.com/mlb/news/rockies-owner-dick-monfort-to-angry-rockies-fan-dont-come
Yesterday (Sunday), the Rockies won their first three game road series in St. Louis since 2009. The young players are exciting to watch and the pitching staff is showing improvement.
44-67 Rockies are only
Seems like they are making predictions come true: On Mar 30, 2023, "But just how slim are their odds? Well a recent power poll tweeted out by ESPN gives the Rockies no chance. Colorado is ranked 27th in the poll but are given a 0% chance of reaching the postseason and World Series."
I'm not much of a fan. When was the last time they were even in the top half of the standings?
And, judging by the attendance numbers, lots of people seem to enjoy taking in a game at Coors Field despite the legendarily awful product the Monforts put on the field. Hard to imagine any but the most smooth-brained and/or psychotic enjoying any CO GOP event.
Whoa when the Rockies are the main topic on the open thread, you know it's the dog days of summer! I think I'm gonna get outside for a bit…
We, here at the "Edge of the World Ranch", were just reflecting on the enormous level of taxpayer resources being spent playing footsie with former White House occupant, D.J.Trump.
His strength lies in the large number of voters who are still devoted to him. Trump voters, as a group, are obsessed with being a bludgeon against the godless Democrats. As long as the Republican party continues to rely on the steaming, stinking, pestilence known as MAGA to win local and state elections, we will continue to pay through the nose to prosecute a traitor.
Here's something a little more substantial for you to snack on, RavenDawg. DeSantis just got his ass handed to him by the College Board: https://www.lgbtqnation.com/2023/08/florida-caves-allows-ap-psychology-class-in-humiliating-defeat-for-desantis-administration/
Thank you for that day-brightener!
I briefly had the idea this morning that if Biden dropped out of the 2024 Presidential race, then that would neuter Trump's "Biden is just out to get me because of the polls" argument. Which is true I guess but it wouldn't change anything.
Trump would still insist that "THEY are out to get him (and you)" for various reasons. His perpetual Victim-ing would go on unhindered.
Welp, so much for that idea.
I don't understand the desire to get rid of Biden. The guy wins. He wins the Democrat primary. He wins the general. He passes legislation while Trump spent 4 years dangling "infrastructure week". He brings the strongest midterm finish for a party with the presidency…. You know what I better turn these cards in for some unknown.
Is it just table babel for poor poker players?
All of the above!!
Since I am bad at poker then I'd say… yes, yes it is.
I have no desire for Biden to drop out of the race. My thought was basically "If Biden were to drop out of the race, would that weaken Trump's Victim Strategy?" The answer I came up with was "No. Trump would always find a way to play the Victim so it wouldn't matter."
I think Biden is doing a good job at being President and I think his low poll numbers are caused by his low poll numbers and people's unwillingness to say President Biden is doing a good job.
Yes indeed, and we're STILL waiting for PAB's proposed Affordable Care Act replacement.
Yep…
Uncle Joe has returned professionalism to the White House. His numbers are slowly increasing as Americans realize that Joe Biden is doing a great job.
Go get 'em, Joe!
