      1. …and he’s not my favorite guy either, to be honest. But I’m really glad to see him be reelected over Mack. I regularly sat in on committee hearings chaired by Congressman Mack when I was working in DC, and the nation is best served by not giving that man a promotion.

      2. The two main thrusts were Mack’s absentee rate, and his funding by corporate interests.

Mack’s comeback was mostly based on that $750 million in alleged Medicare funding.

Nelson may not be Mr. Fire and Progressive, but his win is a great relief.

      1. poor Mourdock & let’s hope Akin is achin’ tonight

I want to see a woman wave with Baldwin, Warren, McCaskill, Duckworth, and others getting their due.  Throw these stupid, white, conservative assholes out on their bigoted asses.

        1. Apparently ArapaGOP was incorrect–the GOP War on Women is real, at least in the mind of voters…

Dems have picked up 4 seats so far and might still pick up a couple of more…

I wonder if open warfare will break out in the GOP or if it will be more subterfuge and backstabbing.  I hope for a blend myself.

    1. Tammy Baldwin is ahead with 49.3% of the vote to 48%. A number of outlets, including Fox News, have declared her the winner. I am very happy about that one.

      1. Getting rid of Joe Walsh made my evening happier.

If Allen West and Michelle Bachmann both get the boot tonight, I’ll consider this one of the better elections I’ve lived through. Too Bad Steve King won re-election in Iowa tonight; that would be the final icing on the cake.

    2. how long it is going to be before our intrepid conservaidiots come slinking back to post?

Could be a long time folks.

This was the Dems. vulnerable cycle in the Senate and they ate the competition.  What a night.

    3. Wisconsin: Tammy Baldwin is the projected winner over Tommy Thompson.

Montana: It’s looking like Tester might hold on to his seat, though it’s still not called.

North Dakota: Amazingly, it looks like Heitkamp will eke out a victory and keep this seat for the Dems. Again, not called yet, but the numbers are in her favor.

Nevada: Still too close to call, but at present it looks like Dean Heller will hold on to his seat.

If these last three hold, Democrats will return to a 53-2-45 Senate – net pickup of two seats (3 pickups and one loss).

      1. The above notes held through the night.

        Wisconsin: Baldwin (D) (hold)

        Montana: Tester (D) (hold)

        North Dakota: Heitkamp (D)  (hold)

        Nevada: Heller (R)  (hold)

All US Senate races are now called.

That makes the final Senate composition 53D-2I-45R, with both Independents almost certain to caucus with the Democrats.
