Too much lipstick!!!
if it ain’t got that epic sax guy.
Herb Reed, the last surviving original member of the Platters, of COPD. Reed sang bass with the group throughout its history and is reported to be the only singer who sang on all 400 of the Platters’ recordings.
There are many phony versions of the Platters still touring (I’ve seen three of them). Reed just last year won a court case giving him exclusive rights to use the name.
The Platters are my favorite pre-rock ‘n roll group of the 1950s. Lead tenor Tony Williams’ voice gives me the chills. Williams died in 1992.
Bob Welch, guitarist for Fleetwood Mac between 1971 and 1974, a suicide. Welch helped transition the group from a British Blues band to a pop band after guitarist Peter Green left. Welch reportedly brought both Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks into the band.
Please forgive this song choice. It’s really lame 1970s soft rock, but was probably Welch’s biggest hit as a soloist. Buckingham and Christine McVie sing backup on the cut. Weird video, too. What’s “Sentimental Lady” about smoking cigars?
Wonder if “Time-Life Presents” has a series of tunes by that name?
You might regret posting that next Friday. (Although Air Supply still makes my flesh crawl.)
did not realize that Hypnotized was sang by Bob Welch. One of my favorite Fleetwood Mac songs:
Mumford and Sons.
These guys recently played at the White House reception for GB’s David Cameron.
Young in age; old in spirit. Lots of direct references in their songs to early 20th century novelists and Shakespeare, to boot.
after that brief segue into 70’s soft rock, I believe we are now firmly back on track. Amazing tune.
Here’s one more for you to really get us back on track. Turn that volume all the way up for this one.
Air Supply – All out of Love
Anything by Talking Heads, Steve Winwood, Blondie, U2, Springsteen and about 10,000 other songs by 10,000 other artists that were better
Art and therefore music are subjective. That doesn’t make it all equally good or even equally worthy.

Yes- I am a music snob. For good reason.
LOL at the snob’s exasperated and condescending response to the question about Moog synthesizers: “First, it’s pronounced ‘moag.’” Count me as someone who didn’t know that…
Especially Coffman…
In case you don’t know who Michael Franti is:
