Judge Lawrence Mazanares ruled today that Secretary of State Gigi Dennis did an “abysmal” job testing voting machines and that she did not comply with state law that requires her to establish minimum standards and then test for those standards.
However, he was not willing throw the whole state into chaos by disallowing use of the machines in an election that is only 46 days away.
So the election goes on as planned, but the machines will have to go through a proper certification afterwards, likely under the next Sec. of State.

It makes Dennis the scapegoat. Don’t know if that’s fair.
But it also shows what happens when you appoint or elect someone who’s not cut out to do the job.
I don’t know anything about Gordon, but I know Coffman well enough to know he will know how to do the job and maintain the respect of most candidates and voters.
Especially since he said that he would be willing to look into it after he was elected not before. Definitely earned my respect with that comment. I mean who wouldnt want the potential for flawed machines in an election?
His top consultant was in all the meetings with GiGi to make the last minute rule changes, and to botch the voting machines. They know its a democratic year and the only way they can win is if they count the votes!
Where was it reported that Coffman was tied to Gigi’s decisions? That’s a relatively serious claim, and last I’d seen it was only Trailhead and Beauprez that were linked to those rule changes.
Coffman came out publically aginst the rule changes.
I should have included this ealier:

Westfall said Rob Fairbank, a GOP political consultant, was also at the meeting.
Rob Faibank is Coffman’s closest consultant. If you check Coffman’s filings he’s already given fairbank’s firm over $20,000.
The things you miss by not knowing the connections…
Bad GOP candidate. No vote for you.
She was appointed.
Ken Gordon will do a through job ensuring the accuracy of any vote counting method. He is as non partisan as any elected official can be which is why he refuses to take ANY PAC money for his campaign. He is running for SOS precisely because he takes accurate elections extremely seriously and feels that Colorado could be pivotal in future elections. He does not want Colorado to be the center of vote integrity doubts in 2008 like Florida in 2000 and Ohio in 2004.
It’s huge that Gordon is not taking any special interest money in the race for the office that oversees campaign finance. Coffman has taken money from insurance companies, pharmaceutical companies, oil & gas companies and, most recently he took $7,500 from a realtors’ small donor committee. There’s no way he could be a neutral party in regulating lobbyists. As soon as Gordon hits the TV spots he’s going to hand Coffman his ass.
