    1. Trickle down and their (non -existent) free market theories aside, the once serious conservative movement in America – a generally coherent theory of government you could embrace or reject -has been reduced to throwing ketchup against the wall and seeing what sticks. It’s become self-serving gibberish attempting to justify any means to gain and retain power. 
       

      It’s sad, really. I grew up in a household and family that were legitimate, thoughtful conservatives and today I’m watching most of them swirl in the NewsMax toilet. 

      If you present a detailed affidavit to a fed judge, obtain a warrant from that judge, and retrieve docs under that warrant, the Republican party today calls it tyranny. Someone gets pregnant, tho, even involuntarily and it’s everybody’s biz.

      Literally.

      1. Threatening the US AG while demanding the preservation of *his* documents.  Will MyKevin survive his own re-election in his newly-drawn district? You have to admit his self-ascribed “Leader” as a Twitter handle is pure comedy. 
         

      2. needless to say, before presenting material to a judge, there had to be a serious belief that a crime has been committed AND that evidence of that crime is available.  And there would have been testing of just HOW serious that belief was up the FBI chain of authority and confirmed by Department of Justice Criminal Division, certainly up to Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco,  perhaps even up to AG Merrick Garland.

        Reacting without knowing ANYTHING about that process and alleging it could ONLY be pressure from the White House — well, let's just say I don't expect those tweets will age well.

         

  4. The president went to Kentucky yesterday to visit the flood-ravaged communities in the eastern part of the state. McConnell and Paul have yet to show their faces. You gotta hand it to them on some level. Voting against an insulin cap of $35 AND not visiting families in in Eastern Ky is super ballsy.

        1. Speaking of shitting bricks, I’m guessing after that laughable “strong man” tweet from MyKevin last night there is damning evidence on him in Fat Donnie from Queen’s Mara-Lago safe. 

            1. The mental gymnastics it takes to argue that confidential information shouldn’t be kept on a private server but that it’s OK to store it in your private residence after leaving office is a sight to behold. 

                1. Of the “classified” documents on Hillary’s server almost all were unclassified at the time.  Only later were 2,000 “up classified” to Confidential.

                  Trump disclosed  Top Secret, compartmentalized information to the Russians because he likes to boost his own ego.

                  See the difference?

                      Clinton’s emails contained information classified Top Secret/Special Access Program, a secrecy designation that includes some of the most closely held U.S. intelligence matters.

                      it’s become clear that classified information bled into the emails, which were sent over unencrypted channels open to interception by foreign intelligence agencies.

                    6. Well, Duh, Negev.  Yes the links date to 2017 when the events occurred.  Do you think there is some statute of limitations on betraying our nation’s secrets for mere self-gratification?

                      I shouldn’t be surprised that you know nothing about and care less about that treasonous behavior by Trump.  Decades of promoting weapons of mass murder to anyone with the money to spend has inured you to the tragedy of the thousands of innocent lives lost in exchange.

                      I pity you who lives in a moral dead zone, unable to fathom the consequences of your actions and beliefs.

    2. Biden was fantastic in Louisville and Superior after the fires. He listened, he sat down with families and heard what they had to say, he consoled them and reassured them that in the long run it was going to be OK.  He is indeed very, very good at this kind of stuff because he obviously cares, and I am sure it was the same in Kentucky. It's not an easy situation at all, but when it really matters, he shows up. Very presidential IMHO.

      McConnell and Paul are useless fucking cowards.  

      1. Why would they go? Those people are too busy cleaning up the mess and salvaging what they can to roll out a red carpet for those two self-important swells.

          1. Reminds me a bit of how the Texas senators handled the big freeze out early last year. John Cornyn was in-state working with his staff and trying to help people. Ted Cruz was vacationing in Cancun.

  5. The fact that there was probable cause that the FBI would find evidence of illegal activity at Mar-a-lago is bananas & is truthfully out-of-character for the true TeflonDon.  However, I'd say it's at best a 50/50 shot that they have something that can put Donny on trial, let alone in jail. 

    1. Of course, there was probable cause. The FBI wouldn’tbe searching MAGAlago without it. Your sentence structure is mangled, though, so I’m not sure what you meant to say.
      Will  they find evidence of a crime?

      Trump is a stupid, arrogant ass, and not a reader. So he may have missed something in those 15 boxes that will nail His Teflon hide to the wall. 
      I give it 70/30 that the FBI found something indictable that DOJ can  go to trial with.

      1. Garland prosecuted the Oklahoma bombing case without a single leak. He’s a plodder. Meticulous. He isn’t going to risk this move without it being a near-certainty. I’ll put the odds at 90-10

        Before this is over the Republicans will be wishing Garland had been put on SCOTUS and not as AG.

        1. I just realized that Garland has a possibility of having career bookends — prosecuting right wingers who attacked the government of the United States.

            All of that suggests the investigation is both serious and fairly well advanced.

          1. So true. If they had allowed him to be confirmed, he would be one of four in the center-left bloc. While Trump would not have been able to appoint Gorsuch, he still would have named Kavanaugh and Coney Barrett giving them a 5-to-4 majority, or perhaps a 4-1-4 split.

    2. I believe there is a 100% chance that he broke the law. We already know that he took classified documents with him to Mar-a-Lago. Whether they are willing to indict and try him for that is a different question. With regard to yesterday's raid, I think we can reasonably assume Donnie had additional documents that he was refusing to voluntarily surrender and can assume that the FBI retrieved some or all of them. If they are personal notes, correspondence, and other minutiae which are legitimate official presidential records, but not classified, I think he gets away with a wrist slap/public dressing down. If they are incriminating or classified, he may be looking at a criminal prosecution.
