Actually I saw one of the signs today for the first time (albeit in an illegal public right of way not attached to any personal property). I thought it was okay. It stood out to me because it was NOT the typical combination of red, white, and blue.
But wait, isn't that "stylized sun" actually a dog whistle signal for radio waves being broadcast from Mestaa'ehehe by the Polis campaign, calling all true Coloradans to don their tinfoil hats in defiance of Californication?
If you stare at that sun long enough, you might be hypnotized into believing something like that!

I have had this on mind for a little while now, so I am gonna get it off my mind. It’s simple.
.Knock it off with the rash and truly mean criticism of the president. President Biden took on a job that only a crazy man or a lover would embrace. Who, among his challengers, would have handled better the satchel full, nay, overflowing with barnyard waste he asked for, and the voters gave him a chance to fix. Then, like his predecessor, he overestimated the patriotism and honesty of those with whom he sought to solve our nation’s problems.
I daresay no one would have had any greater success. laboring against the full on obstruction and sabotage of Mitch McConnell.
Just like his predecessor, he has been stonewalled, then betrayed by his long time senate colleagues…people he thought he could trust.
My message; Lay off of Uncle Joe. He is an old grandpa trying to save this nation. Give him some credit for working his heart out for you. Help him. Defend him.

I agree with you 100%. He is a good man, and has been a better than average president.
However, what we need now is someone with LBJ guts, Bill Clinton brains, and just enough Obama charm to smooth out the other two. Sadly, I don't think Joe has it in him, so it's time to step aside for someone who does. Also sadly, I'm not sure who that person is.

I think Buttigieg would be a poor choice – he's not trying on the hard issues he faces.

Following someone certain "I alone can fix it" requires a corrective attitude, a realization that the President ought not to be all things to all supporters, and certainly not dismiss or alienate non-supporters. One problem in common among LBJ, Clinton and Obama (and most Presidents) is their confidence and belief that what they want is obviously the best thing for the nation to do.

She’s got the “tough on crime” chops from years as a prosecutor, with the compassionate pragmatism and practice in restorative justice to hold that middle ground on justice reform.

Absolutely! They're male. (that was said sarcastically, but it is a large part of what Kamala faces.)
Harris has a reputation for bullying staff. A Washington Post article accused her of ignoring staff briefings on issues, then after screwing up on those issues because of not preparing, reaming out the staff who had prepared the briefings she didn't read.
And, yes, her campaign launch was great. From there on it went downhill.
She was my second choice, after Klobuchar, but faded awfully quickly. But, hopefully, she still has six years to get her act together.
Amy Klobuchar was my favorite candidate, too.

Kamala is a bit divisive within the party. My fear is she would have the same affect on the "mushy middle," those indie voters who actually decide the election.
Last year my husband and I binge watched "VEEP" where Julia Louis Dreyfus plays Selena Meyers, the first woman vice president. She has a dysfunctional staff, and the president has relegated her and her staff the Executive Office Building across from the White House.
Are we seeing life imitating entertainment?
Amy also has a reputation of being hard on her staff. I think (unfortunately) that just comes with the territory of any strong, smart woman: they scare the hell out of far too many insecure men.
I'm a fan of both and would fight equally hard for both but I think Amy and her Minnesota personna would probably play better in a national election.
That’s right. There was the story about the staffer who forgot to bring her a fork when they brought her a salad for lunch. She ended eating the salad with a comb. I can’t imagine the staffer fared well.
But much of what Amy was accused of doing paled in comparison to what Robert Caro wrote about Lyndon Johnson doing when he was a senator.

My favorite: John Connally’s wife worked in Johnson’s office where he had a policy that the phone had to be picked up no later than the second ring. She was answering the phone and a caller went to a third ring. Johnson threw a DC phone book at her. (For those of us old enough to remember, phone books were large and bulky items.)

Get advice from the experts on whatever the subject is, form a plan based on that advice, act definitively on the plan. In today's environment that last one might have to include "by whatever means necessary" (hence the LBJ portion of my formula).
I, for one, am not opposed to finding (or creating) potentially career-ending scandalous information on Joe Manchin and using it to force him into step with the party.
He’s got a vested interest in coal. With the planet warming at an alarming rate, that ought to be quite enough of a scandal. He ought to be thrashed with it at every opportunity. It may not be enough to take him out in West Virginia, but it should make him a pariah to every other Dem. He needs to be told by his caucus, “get on board or get out, you dinosaur.” (pun intended).
Tell me again how making Mitch the Senate Tsar helps us, Cookie?

Yesterday I used Act Blue to send money to
Democratic senate candidates in 7 states: Colorado. Arizona, Georgia, Ohio, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania and Nevada. Will do Wisconsin after their Aug. 9 primary. I also have sent money to Val Demings and Stacy Abrams.
Also Brittany Petersen and Yadira Caraveo in the House.
Victory in those states would give us 53 Democrats — 51 without Manchin or the idiot girl.
I also sent money to dccc. We can hold the House, pass biden’s program,and re-elect him in 2024. At that point we can add four seats to the Supreme Court.
Holding the seats occupied by Democrats and flipping at least two of the five Republican seats NOT considered "solid Republican" would be great.. Cook Political Report sees the top two as "toss-up" elections, the other three as "lean R."
I've read a few other optimists thinking there is a chance for Democrats in races against IA-Grassley, MO-Open, and UT-Lee. The list of things that would have to fall into place to make those three competitive is beyond my sense of reality — but I am happy there are those who believe in the possibility enough to be candidates or to invest in supporting them.
There is no Democrat running in Utah against Mike Lee.
There is a conservative named Evan McMullin who is running as an independent and with tacit support from most of the Democratic Party in Utah. McMullin ran in 2016 for president as an independent conservative alternative to Trump.
I hope McMullin wins in November, but he will almost certainly caucus with the GOP, probably sitting between Lisa Murkowski and Mitt Romney in the anti-Trump faction of the Senate Republican Conference.
Did I mention McConnell? I was talking about Manchin. We're stuck with McConnell until Kentucky tires of him or he drops dead, Neither of which can come soon enough for me.
Kicking Manchin out makes Mitch majority leader now, Cookie. Again, how does that help us?

It would give Biden a foil. Dems and Biden could run against the obstructionist Republican Senate this November and in 2024.
But since someone mentioned a few days ago that Sotomayor suffers from diabetes, I’ve reconsidered my previous belief that Schumer should kick Sinemanchin out of the caucus.
If a vacancy on the Supreme Court occurred, McConnell would insist on keeping it open until there is a Republican president and a Republican senate.
Manchin's marriage to the coal industry is the only thing keeping him in office in a blood red state. Getting him out of office is not helpful. If he were to resign or worse, switch to the party he belongs in, that would give immediate control of the Senate to the GOP. Everything would stop, dead on arrival.
Forcing him to pull the party line is the only real option at this point. The Dems can hope and pray for more seats in Nov. but the reality is they will be lucky to keep the 50-50 they have now.
I think Grand Junction and Colorado as a whole should consider applying for Grand Junction to win the funding as one of the 10 Technology Hubs.
I think GJ has about a 0.1% chance of winning. But in the process, they/we will learn what GJ needs to do if they are to have a real chance the next time around.
And then get their ass in gear growing themselves to that point.
