Ruh-Roh: Committee Looking at Pre-Insurrection Capitol Tours

Rep. Lauren “Q*Bert” Boebert

As POLITICO reports:

People who joined Georgia GOP Rep. Barry Loudermilk for a Capitol tour on Jan. 5, 2021 photographed and recorded places “not typically of interest to tourists, including hallways, staircases, and security checkpoints,” according to materials released Wednesday by the Jan. 6 select committee.

“The behavior of these individuals during the January 5, 2021 tour raises concerns about their activity and intent while inside the Capitol complex,” panel chair Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.) wrote in a letter to Loudermilk, renewing their request for testimony.

The video footage and new details released by the panel underscored lawmaker concerns that surfaced in the days after the Jan. 6 attack: that large tour groups appeared to surveil areas of the building a day before a violent mob smashed its way inside the Capitol. The select committee has evidence that at least one member of Loudermilk’s group returned to the Capitol the following day and recorded an ominous video message aimed at Democratic lawmakers…

…Capitol Police confirmed that Loudermilk brought a group of 12 people into the House office buildings on Jan. 5 at about 11 a.m., a tour that later grew to 15 people. The group remained in the complex for about two hours, even after Loudermilk had left. The new footage shows Loudermilk with members of the group as they walked through those buildings. [Pols emphasis]

Here’s the video released by the Jan. 6 committee:

This news should leave Colorado Republican Rep. Lauren “Q*Bert” Boebert feeling a little unsettled. As you may recall, Boebert was under significant scrutiny after Jan. 6, 2021, amid reports that she also led a large (and unusual) tour group through the Capitol in the days before the insurrection.

Boebert’s excuse for that Capitol tour is similar to what Loudermilk has said in his defense. Both Boebert and Loudermilk have also publicly lied about giving Capitol tours prior to the Jan. 6 insurrection.

  1. Its not a long throw from John Eastman being told to get a "great fucking criminal defense lawyer" to asking what was true believer Boebert doing?

Even if you found that she herself murdered police officers on 1/6 the Republican party would back her. Why?

“He’s purging. He’s purging. He’s trying to set the Republican Party up as a bunch of yes-men loyalists. Think about that. That’s scary.”

    — Rep. Tom Rice (R-SC), who lost his GOP primary last night to a Donald Trump-backed challenger

She is a willing slave so why would they get rid of her?

  2. Boebert led at least 2 family tours of the Capitol- one at midnight on December 20 with her oldest son and her mother, after the Million MAGA march.
We know mom was in sympathy with the insurrectionists. If mom took pictures or wanted info on strategic, but not picturesque, areas of the Capitol, they were accompanied by a Capitol Police officer who would be able to corroborate that.

Then there was another tour with her entire family on or after she was sworn in January 3. This was the tour that may have had some insurrectionists tagging along; it would be important to review video to see exactly who toured the Capitol with Boebert’s family group.

There are also reports that Boebert was seen with a “large group” in the tunnels beneath the Capitol. That’s certainly suspicious, but Boebert has denied it.

  3. Related or not to 1/6, the representative has stated she is going to sue Muckrackers for saying she was a working girl and had abortions.  Well, it is harsh to offend working ladies like that.  I am not sure what she was exactly suing for though.  Being a working lady, doing a trick, doing something like a trick with an important guy in the far right greedy old pervert cult, not knowing how to get birth control pills (or a diaprahm or even condoms).  If, as the notice states, she did have abortions, no issue.  She was using another form of birth control, but that is only if she did.

    1. Yeah, that's going nowhere. All those allegations may be 100% false, as the Daily Beast suggested today, but there's no way even Sloebert is stupid enough to invite the civil discovery process into her life.

      1. Maybe she can ask her friend and role model, Sarah Palin, how things worked out in her lawsuit against the NY Times.

      2. You beat me to it, Ghengis.  Although #BangBang may be dense enough to wander into the discovery landmine, she surely has at least one, sane Sentinel in her circle to keep her out of the quicksand?

  4. Interesting that her tweet that day was: “Today is 1776” and the name of the Proud Boys plan to take over the Capital grounds until Trump declared martial law was “1776 Returns”.
