    1. Ballotpedia has the race as even closer than Cuellar's victory of 1.5% & nearly 800 votes in the initial round of voting.  He had 23,552 votes by the end of that round.  The run-off:

      Henry Cuellar    50.2%  22,692

      Jessica Cisneros   49.8%  22,517

Republican run-off in the same district was won by

      Cassy Garcia   57.0%  8,483 votes

It will be interesting to see if the combination of factors changes the predictions for November.

    2. Assuming Cuellar is the nominee and assuming there are no more surprises from the FBI, maybe the Dems hold this seat in November.

Both parties had contested primaries. With 95% of the vote counted in each primary, there were 45,209 votes cast in the Dem primary and only 14,893 cast in the GOP primary. That is encouraging.

  1. THAT’S the spirit!! (Ms Dooley is a pretty big stick in the Georgia MAGA community. Oddly enough she’s really good on renewable energy issues)

    1. Tune: Tom Dooley

Hang down your head, Deb Dooley

Hang down your head and cry.

      Your dreams of fascist glory

Have gone down south to die.

      Well now, Deb

Hang down your head, Deb Dooley

Hang down your head and cry.

      Your cop-killing Trump butt-kisser

      Didn’t even make a half-hearted try.

      Well now, Deb

You could write in Stolen Election

      Or vote the Libertarian team.

      But the MAGAT fascist Perdue

Can’t carry out his Trumpist scheme.

      1. Bravo, V.

I'm a bit confused by someone who is  @Crimsontider being a big deal in Georgia politics … one more reason to hang down her head, perhaps.

    2. "she's really good on renewable energy issues….."

Otherwise crazy Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) is generally OK on climate change issues. After all, he lives in a state where the highest natural point is all of 345 ft.

  2. I’m watching that moron, Gregg Abbott, talk about the solution to gun violence.

When he replaced Rick “Ooops” Perry, I thought Abbott was marginally smarter. Not so sure anymore.

UPDATE: Beto is calling out Abbott and is being forcibly ejected.

    1. Arm the teachers, more armed cops in schools, its the video games, its mental health, I'm so shocked that something like this could happen, blah, blah, blah…

Still the same stupid shit. Anything short of actual gun control, then the cash stops coming. Profit over people.

      1. Dan Patrick, the Lt Gov of Texas, was going on about that but then subtly blamed local school districts that opted out of arming the teachers.

They are right about there being a serious mental health crisis in this country. If they don't want gun control, maybe we need to lock up all those who suffer from serious mental illness. You know, folks who follow the Q-Anon conspiracy bullshit and the election deniers.

Delusional thought disorder may serve as a red flag.

        1. "serious mental health crisis……."  Seems to me that Texas politicians like Greg Abbott, Dan Patrick, Ken Paxton are living proof.

I'd include Ted Cruz, but he's just a dumb shit.

    2. Just watched that Abbott press conference with all the Republican elected politicians saying nothing can be done… maybe there were too many doors?

"It's not the place for politics"

Just a min ago y'all were calling for heads because of insane delusions that schools had kitty litter for students who are furries.

  3. Bet our primaries don't have this much drama:

Celebrity heart surgeon Dr. Mehmet Oz, who is endorsed by former President Donald Trump, led former hedge fund CEO David McCormick by 912 votes, or 0.06 percentage points, out of 1,342,580 ballots reported by the state as of Wednesday.

Automatic recount — and "The Associated Press will not declare a winner in the race until the recount is complete. That could take until June 8."

  4. Oh, and now Greg Abbott is going on about how this is beyond a mental health challenge and is the face of pure evil.

But evil had easy access to firearms. He left out that part.

Negev, what say you? How do we keep guns out of the hands of pure evil?

  5. Talking Points Memo has an interesting update on Trump attorneys:

The DOJ has asked for information about Rudy Giuliani, John Eastman, and Jenna Ellis as part of its probe into alternate slates of electors that had been conjured up to vote for Trump over the will expressed by the voters of the states in which they resided, the paper reported.

That’s purportedly taken the form of subpoenas issued by a D.C. federal grand jury seeking information about the attorneys and about Kenneth Chesebro, who provided legal justifications for appointing pro-Trump electors.

    the article concludes:

the attorneys submitted the false slates to various federal agencies in a bid to have the Trump electors be taken seriously, and to lay the groundwork for their potential acceptance.

As the New York Times notes, it’s a federal crime to submit false statements to the federal government.

And as I understand the boundaries correctly, if the attorneys actually conveyed the slates, it is no longer "legal advice" that could be considered "privileged."
