‘Corruption’ or ‘socialism’: GOP takes aim at South Texas either way – POLITICO
For what it is worth, if I lived in TX-28, I probably would vote for Cisneros in the runoff but it's immaterial. The seat is lost regardless of which one wins the runoff.
Representative Sirota introduces a new bill — necessary protection for election workers. Colorado election workers could soon get new protections against threats, doxxing
If you see or write to your state legislators, this seems like an idea whose time has come [unfortunately]. While it ought to be bi-partisan, I'm thinking it likely to be a project of the Democratic legislators.
I agree; it’s a good idea to write to one’s state legislators, urging them to vote for 1273, the election-worker protection bill.
I’d like to see this extended to school board members, as well. They’re getting nasty emails and calls including pictures of their children. This is clearly intended to intimidate , and should be prosecuted as a crime.
Heather Cox-Richardson calls our attention to:
Coincidence? I think not.
BTW, Moderatus has disappeared too since the imposition of sanctions.
Have you noticed how the Ukraine patriots are defending their capital and not attacking it?
What a novel and intriguing idea….
Captain PewPew?
Jennifer Cohn is doing a good job of connecting dots (the plane issue doesn't show up until tweet #8)
Sherronna Bishop is also Tina Peters’ campaign manager for Peters’ secretary of state campaign.
Of course she is. It will probably turn out that Tina Peters, Q-bert, and Sherronna Bishop are long-lost sisters. The inbreeding would not surprise me.
Q-bert Airways.
Where the flight attendant dresses like a Hooters' server while packing heat.
Here's a little good news, although it could be better: https://www.nbcnews.com/nbc-out/out-politics-and-policy/judge-blocks-texas-investigation-trans-teens-parents-treatments-rcna18459
There’s a human story connected to Texas’ anti- Trans laws. Jeff Younger, a Texas legislative candidate who supports the Governor’s anti-Trans directive, and who also has a transgender daughter, lost custody of his child after refusing to pay child support, and fighting with his ex-wife over the child’s medical treatment.
Younger and his daughter, Luna, ( now 12) are the ones mentioned in the last paragraphs of this aricle about how trans children are being used to promote right wing candidates in Texas.
Younger was shouted out of a Texas university when he came to promote the “Trans treatment is child abuse” bill.
And these children that you spit on
As they try to change their worlds
Are immune to your consultations
They're quite aware of what they're goin' through
– David Bowie
Love every one of those kids. That is inspiring kwtree.
Thanks, kwtree! I would have missed this.
Alva, I inadvertently clicked on the banner ad at the top of the page and it hijacked my homepage. You might want to take a look at that.
What do you mean "hijacked"? These are Google-served ads, so we don't have anything to do with them.
I figured that. When I click on the little house icon on my toolbar it goes to the ad at the top of this page instead of my homepage.
That's not cool. You should submit a complaint to Google, since the ad you saw might be different than what others are served.
I did. No worries. Karen fixed it. Being married to a software engineer has its uses.
Hitting closer to home..,
Russia billionaires move superyachts to Maldives as sanctions tighten
Also interesting is the news today on Yahoo that a wealthy Russian businessman; who apparently hasn’t been in Russia for a couple decades; has placed a $1 million bounty on Vladimir Putin.
I hope some matching funds come into the mix.
The news is hard to watch. It is demoralizing, dehumanizing, and hurts the soul. The continuous images of young women and their babies stampeded into escaping the war zone is so heartbreaking. Saying good bye to their sons and fathers is so traumatic. If you have had a loved one go off to war you know the crushing anxiety and sadness of the circumstances. Not only do you worry about their physical safety and exposure to horrific actions that may leave many not the same as when they left.
The Good Samaritan risk his safety to give aid to one in need. We have become a nation of selfish people, constantly asking the question of “whats in it for me”. We calculate the cost benefit of every action, and change as soon as something goes south. How pitiful we have become.
Past Presidents and politicians have proclaimed the US is the shining city on the hill, a thousand points of light, worlds strongest democracy, world superpower. What good are these accolades without action? GOD will not look favorably on our country.
Why can’t we do anything? A man does not light a lamp and put it under a blanket. We have capability to help innocent people. We are supposed to have fancy airplanes that are invisible, stealth airplanes, stealth helicopter and who know what else. Can we not fly our airplanes at night and bomb the Russians? Can we paint Ukrainian flags on the machines and let the Ukrainian pilots fly them?
We promised Ukraine we would standby their security when they gave up nuclear weapons, and now we don’t. Our selfishness will not be rewarded.
Lord we need your supernatural help. Bring fire on the advancing Russians. Stop this by what ever means you choose. Please do not take your hand off of this world. Amen
You may want to review what sort of security assurances were given by the United States. The ones I consider relevant say
Ukraine is not a part of NATO or the EU. There has been US military aid (of various sorts) given in the past decade — but again, I don't know of any explicit guarantee beyond "we will deliver these goods."
Ukrainians are members of the human race, does that count for nothing?
Nobody’s arguing that Ukrainians aren’t human. Your prayers for them are well-intended and , I think, helpful,, along with everyone else’s, including heathens like myself. I hope you’re not above helping with material aid; several organizations are helping refugees, for example.
I do wonder what your political agenda on here is; your first posts were incoherent, at best. Are you a “ It’s Biden’s fault for being weak”, or “ It’s Trump’s fault for promoting Putin as a great leader, undermining NATO, and extorting Ukraine for political blackmail” kind of guy?
Or are you, as your screen name implies, merely another commercial spammer who will eventually implore readers to click on your product’s “promo code”?
I give substantially to my church and trust them to make wise decisions for the needs that are expressed.
I have nothing to sell. Does it matter who’s fault it is, can’t we just make a new decision and do what is right for humanity?
"I give substantially to my church and trust them to make wise decisions for the needs that are expressed."
Like all those saps who trusted and donated to the likes of Oral Roberts, Jim and Tammy Bakker, and Ted Haggard?
Or maybe Roger is a Roman Catholic, and his donations go towards paying the attorney's fees and settlement costs of the pedophile priest lawsuits.
Your church may be doing great work…many are. But yes, it does matter “whose fault it is.”
The day that you actually concede that your support of Trump was misplaced, and that he lost the election to Biden will be the day that people start having useful conversations on here, instead of just hurling insults back and forth.
I don’t think Pear has to concede anything regarding his support of Trump in 2016 being “misplaced.” It’s not necessary to repeat, but I’ll do it anyway, that both a lot of people got snookered by the corrupt grifter Trump and that Hillary was a weak candidate.
A lot of facts have come out in the past four years about Trump and his supporters. Many people fell away and either withheld their votes in 2020 or voted for Biden. Information continues to come out. Yes, the far righties deride the various investigations in NY and GA as “partisan witchhunts,” as well as the January 6 committee. But they can’t hide the fact that Trump’s long time accounting firm, Mazar’s, bailed out on him.
Articles in the right leaning magazine, The Washington Examiner, are opining in almost every issue now that Trump should not be a presidential candidate in 2024. The Examiner is not known as a hotbed of “Never-Trumpism.”
I give money every year to various charities. Not one single penny goes to support organized religion.
Church of Trump. Beware false prophets.
According to Trump's accountants, Parkie, all his profits were false!
Just the DNA, please.
E Jean Carroll, who said that Trump raped her in the 1990s, only wants a DNA sample from TFG.
She can probably find lots of it all over the carpet throughout Mar-A-Lago.
Wow, I thought climate change was the mother of triggers. Who knew it would be God!
I worship an Awesome God. Tell me about your God.
C'mon, PP.
It ain't about God, and you know it. It is about churches of men who profess to speak for God. They are a tool of the right wing.
Prosperity Jesus has a message a little different from the one I learned. I have attended numerous churches, never having found one that surpassed my closet.
I sat with my mother in her little country church in Texas while her pastor delivered a message from John Hagee. It was a hate-filled, self-righteous, excoriation of all things Obama and Democrat…and a call to political action.
I asked my elderly Mom what she thought Jesus would think of that. She said, "He would weep".
She soon after left that church.
Don't confuse the issue, Pfruit.
It's not God . . .
. . . it's you.
You got that right Diode. It’s me it’s you, for we all have sinned and fallen short. Get on board.
It is good that you finally admit the truth.
It is you…and all the delusional, holier- than-thou, self-righteous, church going phonies like you.
You act like this is a game…Isn't it fun to see your heros' hero teach those evil Ukranians a lesson? What could be more fun than watching Putins' army blowing babies into little bits?
Yes…you must be proud.
"Isn't it fun to see your heros' hero teach those evil Ukranians a lesson?"
Or using a nuclear power plant for target practice.
(You can't make this shit up. No one would believe you.)
So……..you are not on board?
"the mother of triggers……."
Nope, the "mother" is saying anything bad about the Trump & Putin bromance buddies.
What PP and his ilk can’t explain is this: if your God is so awesome, why does he require worship from lesser beings?
How could such an awesome being have such low self-esteem?
That right there, Gertie, is one of the questions that pushed me out of Christianity as a teenager, and I've stayed out. I'll stick to supernatural beings with higher self-esteem.
That’s why I stick to Athena. At least, my God looks great in greaves!
