The American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act is ridiculous and hardly demanded BB’s attention.
I got pointed to this story that identified that not only has Bob missed this vote which me and other horse lovers across this state care about but he has missed vote after vote. Look at the votes Bob is missing.

Bob is my representative but the only way representative Democracy works is if my representative shows up to do his damn job. Bob wasn’t elected to further his career, he was elected to represent the 7th congressional district. If he doesn’t have time to do his job then he should have waited to run for governor.
The complaint about the horse slaughter prevention act is relevant. The rest of that is not. Who cares if Bob Beauprez showed up to vote on whether we should have a commemorative coin? Did you really think his vote would be needed to ensure the passage of an honorary recognition? On a motion to instruct conferees?
I hope Ritter wins as much as the next guy, but let’s be reasonable. We elect smart people to make their own decisions… and while I often doubt how smart Beauprez really is, I’m pretty sure he knows that Lincoln will get his commemorative coin with or without the Beauprez vote.
While most motions to instruct the conferees are not that important, this one was. The motion was for the conferees to agree to a Senate amendment that would ensure that TRICARE health savings were passed on to veterans. The reason for the motion was a worry that if the conferees did not agree to this there would be no agreement at all and the bill would fail.

Come on now . . . I hate to stick up for Beauprez, but if he were a Dem candidate I sort of doubt that we’d be hearing about this. It’s pretty common for candidates to miss a lot of votes when they’re campaigning, especially this close to the election. I think Kerry averaged about 10% attendence at one point during the 2004 cycle – although running for president is a bit more demanding. Regardless, I didn’t hear any Democrats complaining that he was neglecting his duties. I do agree that brushing off the Horse Slaughter Act in a state like CO isn’t a very smart move, but that’s the least of BB’s troubles at the moment.

Eastern, western and southern counties are concerned about this bill and want to see it die. If Beauprez missed the vote, may not hurt but sure doesn’t help.
