Lamborn Ethics Probe Moves Forward

  • by: Colorado Pols
Rep. Doug Lamborn (R-Colorado Springs)

While we’re all still waiting to see what (if anything) Congressional leaders will do to address Rep. Lauren “Q*Bert” Boebert’s disgusting anti-Muslim rhetoric, we can at least report that an ethics hearing into another Colorado Member of Congress is moving forward. The light will remain shining on accusations facing perhaps the dimmest bulb in Congress, Rep. Doug Lamborn (R-Colorado Springs).

As POLITICO reports:

The House Ethics Committee announced Thursday it is extending probes into a pair of members: Reps. Marie Newman (D-Ill.) and Doug Lamborn (R-Col.). You may recall the accusations against Lamborn: The Colorado Republican was sued alleging that he allowed his son to live in a storage area in the Capitol basement.

The House Ethics Committee’s official announcement was that it “decided to extend the matter” into multiple allegations of abuse alleged to have been perpetuated by Lamborn, which is Congress-speak for “you’re not out of the woods, yet.”

Former staffers have accused Lamborn of multiple abuses, including allowing his adult son, Luke, to live in the basement of the U.S. Capitol building; refusing to take COVID-19 precautions for staffers; and requiring his lackeys to run personal errands (and shop for Christmas gifts) for Doug and his wife, Jeanie. In addition to the ethics investigation, Lamborn is also being sued by former staffer Brandon Pope, who alleges that he contracted COVID-19 while working for Lamborn and was fired for speaking out about Lamborn’s general awfulness.

Republican members of Colorado’s congressional delegation seem to be locked in a heated battle to determine which of them is the worst person. We’d say that Boebert probably has the lead here, but Lamborn and Rep. Ken Buck are working hard to close that gap.

  1. Jeeez, letting his son sleep in the Capitol basement. Where to begin with this one.

First, unless he suffers from some serious impairment or disability, adult children of politicians should be fending for themselves once they become ….. umm, adults.

Second, to the extent that adult child cannot fend for him/her/their own self, when dad earns a base salary of $174,000, adult child should not be looking for free housing in the basement of dad's workplace. Unless, of course, dad owns the business – which in this case, he does not.

Third, nothing will come of this latest embarrassment. The closest anything will come of it is that there may be an effort to get rid of Still Born in the GOP primary. Unfortunately, this will attract no less than four challengers who will evenly divide the opposition, letting the imbecile win re-nomination comfortably. (I'm thinking of Jeff Crank, Rayburn Bentley, Lionel Rivera, and all the others who have haplessly tried to send this moron packing.)

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

    1. This just goes to show how much Lamborn, and his service usefulness, is valued by his own party and its donors . . .

. . . Freshman Pew-pew’s hubby gets handed half a million the very first year of her term. Eight-term veteran, and lobotomy survivor spokesmodel, Lamborn has a homeless son who no one will bother gifting even a halfway decent Goodwill “high-end”mountaineering tent, and must therefore squat in a Capitol basement storage closet.
