CO-07: O'Donnell fails to complete candidate Questionaire

In another characteristic attempt to hide his true nature from the public, Rick O’Donnell refuses to answer 28 questions on a questionaire that were presented to him and his opponent Ed Perlmutter.

“(Golden, CO) – Today, Democratic candidate for the 7th Congressional District, Ed Perlmutter, criticized Rick O’Donnell for trying to hide his radical positions and desire to rubber-stamp the failed policies of the Bush Administration by declining to answer 28 separate questions from the Rocky Mountain News Candidate Questionnaire.

Perlmutter stated, “One minute O’Donnell says, `I will always tell you where I stand,’ and then the next minute he chooses to hide his position on 28 different issues.  Even though his views may be radical and out-of-touch, he needs to take responsibility for them and be honest with the voters.”  Perlmutter added, “If O’Donnell can write essays about abolishing Social Security and drafting 17 year old boys to patrol the border, he can certainly tell the voters where he stands on these important issues.””

“Perlmutter highlighted a few of the issues that O’Donnell declined to comment saying, “O’Donnell doesn’t want to answer any questions about a woman’s reproductive freedom, because of his radical opposition to abortion even in the cases of rape or incest.  He doesn’t want to answer any questions about stem cell research because he supports President Bush’s veto of this bipartisan legislation.  He doesn’t want to talk about school vouchers because he knows most voters are against using public money to pay for private schools.  And O’Donnell can’t bear to answer questions about Iraq because he will rubber-stamp whatever President Bush and Donald Rumsfeld ask him to support.””

Also, O’Donnell flip-flops on whether or not Donald Rumsfeld should resign.

I am a volunteer for Ed Perlmutter’s campaign.

  1.   How did Little Ricky handle the social security issue?  Did he ignore that question?  Did he say that his position on the subject has been misrepresented by the media and his opponents?  Did he say that his position on the issue has been creatively redesigned (he can’t say “evolved” because that will alienate the GOP base)?
I can see how Both Ways beated ROD in the GOP primary in ’02…….

        1.   I was thinking something along the same line.  Keep in mind, Little Ricky still bested Rogers and Zachkem so conceivably things could have getten worse if you move further down the GOP bench of talent.  (And I use the word “talent” loosely.)
One “issue” which Both Ways used against Lil Ricky was his marital status and/or lack of offspring.

  2. Until I know whether the op is correct, it’s hard to comment.

But if a candidate refuses to answer questions posed by a major daily or TV station in his market, I don’t see how he can win.

Non answers say the candidate’s answers are unpopular and will hurt him, which is true of Repulsive Republican Radicals (RRRs).

ROD’s positions on social issues certainly are radical and unacceptable to a majority of the likely voters in CD-7.

Not looking good for the GOP in CD-7 unless Nancy Pelosi and John Murtha hand him an unexpected victory.

The appeasers are working hard to lose the election to the Christianists. (See letters in today’s Rocky.)
