Who Wants To Tell Him? Casper Stockham Edition

  • by: Colorado Pols

Here is perennial Republican placeholder congressional candidate Casper Stockham, the Republican nominee in Colorado’s 7th and 1st Districts between 2016 and the present day, with some thoughts about you getting the COVID-19 vaccine–which if you haven’t yet, by the way, please do, and get boosted, and wear your mask, etc. despite Stockham’s misinformation:

We know what Stockham is trying to say–it’s bad advice coming from a lot of Republicans these days–which is don’t worry about getting the COVID vaccine, because of all the other things you can do to treat COVID once you catch it like…

If you’re wincing in pain right now over this singularly mangled discombobulation of the words “monoclonal antibodies,” that’s good because it means there is still hope for you. Because we of course do not treat viral infections with antibiotics, and “monicronal” is simply not a word that either exists or has any reason to exist. Stockham went beyond a mere typographical error to expose the deep void of ignorance that lies beneath.

If you didn’t learn your lesson in 2020, don’t take medical advice from these people.

  1. So many on the right need to be seriously smacked in the head with a virology and immunology textbook.  It'd be even better if they would read the words, but . . .

  2. I shudder to ask, but did anyone ask him what the "other solutions" are from which you can just take your pick? One, I'd guess, is the always delicious intubation. Or, bleach, dewormers, hydroxychloroquine, starlight, ritual…

    1. . . . sleeping on dozens of nutter MyPillows, jamming four feet of high intensity fluorescent light bulb up your ass, colloidal metals, billionaire tax cuts (what doesn’t that cure?), dying a horrible gasping death while choking on a ICU ventilator . . .

. . . how many “other” (i.e. ineffective or harmful) solutions does a Real Republican need??  (. . . “we’ve got ’em all, whatever they want!!”)

  3. I'd say that Casper Stockham is dumb as dog shit, but that would be unduly disparaging to the substance my dog deposits on the ground during her morning walks.

    1. There’s scientific evidence for the benefits of letting children play in and eat dirt. That’s assuming said dirt isn’t contaminated with lead, heavy metals, sick animal poop, etc. so that leaves out Globeville, Swansea, Commerce City, and most of the new Congressional District 8.

I played in lots of dirt growing up, and composting and gardening is now my grown-up excuse for it.

My own kids were constantly playing in the mud and dirt. My granddaughter seems to enjoy the occasional mouthful, though we’re careful about the source

Doesn’t mean we should package it up and sell dirt to credulous yuppies.

      1. But zero evidence that playing in the dirt can give any protection from SARS-CoV-2.  There is something to be said about building the immune response to environmental antigens (immunotherapies for seasonal allergies employ this approach), but the vaccines are the "silver bullets" here.  That means vaccinating the world.  The virus doesn't care about manmade borders.
