Democrat Angie Paccione’s campaign for CD-4 announced yesterday that it had raised more than $1 million thus far, although she is still more than $1 million behind Rep. Marilyn Musgrave.

State Rep. Angie Paccione today broke the $1 million mark for fundraising in her campaign for Congress, an all-time record for a challenger in Colorado’s Fourth Congressional District.

The fundraising data reveal that her campaign is one of the healthiest grassroots campaigns in America, with more than 7,000 individual contributions, and with the average contribution totaling $140. More than 91 percent of contributions came from Colorado. Eighty-three percent of contributions were for $100 or less.

“We’ve reached a new level in our campaign, thanks to the people of the Fourth,” Paccione said. “They want someone who will stand up to the special interests and speak for the people, and I am that someone.”

Rep. John Salazar, who represents the neighboring Third Congressional District, congratulated Paccione on the milestone.

“This just goes to show how dynamic Angie’s campaign is, and this race has become one of the most competitive races in the nation,” Salazar said. “The people of Colorado are hungry for change. Angie Paccione has been a good friend to me and a good friend to her community for many years, and she will provide the leadership this district needs.”

  1. The Denver Post on CD4:

Dissatisfaction nationally with Republicans and aggressive campaigning by a Democratic challenger have some questioning whether Congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave’s Colorado seat is in jeopardy.

“There is something going on. This race is now competitive,” said Amy Walter, senior editor of the nonpartisan Cook Political Report, which analyzes the country’s congressional races. “Musgrave is vulnerable.”

    1. Can’t Musgrave get any more money out of Tom Delay and his kind to help her run a dirty campaign, or, is he no longer able to dole out the cash since he’s on his way out of office?

    1. The stats breakdown of Dems, Repubs, and Independents is wrong and there is also no 3rd party candidates included in the poll.

And if bankruptcy is the biggest slam you can come up with in regards to Angie, your girl Musgrave is in seriously big trouble.
