CD-7 Still Top of Hit List Nationwide

  • by: Colorado Pols

The Washington Post blog “The Fix” still has Colorado’s CD-7 as the most likely congressional seat to change party hands in 2006, but it is the only Colorado seat among the Top 20 listed:

1. Colorado’s 7th District: Former state Sen. Ed Perlmutter’s victory in the Democratic primary earlier this month makes Republican nominee Rick O’Donnell’s strategy even more complicated. Republicans were privately hoping former state Rep. Peggy Lamm would be the Democratic nominee because she was to Perlmutter’s ideological left and would have given O’Donnell a chance to co-opt moderate voters. Perlmutter is not easily stereotyped as a liberal, and this suburban Denver district grows more Democratic by the day. (Previous ranking: 1)

  1. Nice column by Peter Blake in this morning’s Rocky trashing Little Ricky’s compulsory national service idea.  The concept has some problems of its own, but Blake labels it “strange” coming from a free-market Republican.  Then he slams R.O.D. with the ultimate put down:  he puts Little Ricky in the same category with Rahm Emmanuel!

  2. Only question now is whether or not Bill Winter will get as many votes as Conti did. The Winter campaign has no money, no organization, no volunteers and no support. The weakness of the Winter campaign is allowing Tancredo to focus on helping other Republicans. Winter raised a lot of money early but has blown through it all with nothing to show for it.
