Gordon pushes SoS rules story

  • by: Bip

Ken Gordon is getting increasingly good press surrounding the new emergency rules issued by current Secretary of State Gigi Dennis.

It’s good to see Ken pushing the earned media and becoming more active… it will be interesting to see how he and Coffman compare in the August finance filing.

This is a story that Republicans wish would simply go away, but Gordon has kept it in the news with a favorable story in the Rocky and an editorial and a story in the Post (see links below).

The Rocky Mountain News has a story that talks mostly about Gordon:

The Denver Post’s featured editorial this morning essentially adopts Gordon’s position:
http://www.denverpos…

…and there is also a short story in the Post:
http://www.denverpos…

These articles are mostly favorable, but the simple fact that the focus is on a partisan Republican SoS benefits Ken.

  1. If it wasn’t for people like him shining the spotlight on the republican partisan tricks they might get away with it.

Its also funny watching Coffman squirm.  Coffman’s statements sound like something john kerry or bothways bob would say.  He supports it, but he doesn’t which is it mike?

  2. it’s not just repubs generaly… the repub who wants this to go away most of all is coffman. he has to take a position against his party on this one, which cant help his fundraising at all, but he still cant take as strong a position as gordon

  3. “State Treasurer and Republican secretary of state candidate Mike Coffman said he “philosophically” agreed with a new rule requiring groups that collect membership dues to get written permission from each member to transfer the dues to a political or small-donor committee.”

As a conservative, I can stomach to see this happening to our party.  The Country Club elitists that control our party need to be let go.  They do not represent the republican base, but their own self interest, and Coffman would only continue that elitist bias.

Apparently Ken is not only the best choice for SOS, but the only real choice to keep our elections fair.
