September 15, 1950 – Korean War: The U.S. X Corps lands at Inchon.
And on this day in Cleveland in 1946, a dog barked!
I thought Newsom's quote about the election truthers was perfect.
“This election fraud stuff is a crock. It’s shameful,”Newsom said. “As an American, I’m ashamed, I’m disgusted by it. Stop it. Grow up. These people are literally vandalizing our democracy and trust in our institutions.”
Stop it. Grow up. We need to stop engaging with this insane tantrum with facts, and simply tell them to go pound salt. That's really the only answer to all this.
[Interesting side bar: that quote above has since been removed from the article that is now posted online]
CA Secretary of State's website says (18,185 of 18,185) precincts partially reporting as of September 15, 2021, 2:55 a.m. :
Shall Gavin Newsom Be Recalled (Removed) From the Office of Governor?
And yet SOMEHOW,
In other political comedy, Elder also said “I’m a uniter… We are going to bring this country together.”
Elder is a uniter! He has unified the country in the view that he's an asshole!
The Republican made the mistake of believing Newsom was as unlikeable as Gray Davis, and that Elder was as likable as Arnold Schwarzenegger. A special kind of delusion, even for the CA GOP.
I’m the world’s fifth largest economy, the once-grand GOP is proving to be a clown car filled with hapless anarchists, devoid of vision or meaningful leadership.
Last night probably cemented Elder as the de facto head of the CA Republican Party. Good news for Elder and his grift machine – and great news for CA Democrats.
They really are bunch of dim bulbs. Are you tweeting this from your tantric sex session with the dude that's not your husband? I'm confident Mark has little interest in courting Marshall.
Don't ask, don't tell…..
Lord that woman is dumb. I hope as a lawmaker someone will tell her the difference between ordinance and ordnance!
And Dan Quayle looks like a Rhodes Scholar these days.
US military doesn't use the rank "Marshal" … and that isn't the usual spelling for a first name.
French, German, British and other armies use Marshall. In WW2 we proposed adopting it but Chief of Staff George C. Marshall refused to become “Marshal Marshall.” Ergo we adopted General of the Army as the equivalent five-star rank.
Only one American soldier ever had a higher rank: General of the Armies, plural, John J. Pershing. In theory, that’s six stars. In practice, Pershing wore four.
The highest rank ever held by a American soldier might be Commander-in-chief George Washington of the Continental Army. But that was before the current Constitution was passed, which reserved that role for the president — the first one to hold that title as president was, of course, the same Washington.
That would have been like Major Major.
Imagine that an American retailing genius had gone into the British Army instead and rose to Field Marshal Marshall Field!
Or, referring to a flat topped hill or mountain as Table Mesa, being that "Mesa" is the Spanish word for Table.
It reads like she's telling Milley to date 'Marshal'. Yes, odd spelling but consider the source!
All them gals down at the Longbranch would drop their knickers for just one chance to court the Marshall . . .
. . . but no one ever gives a thought to that poor old lonesome Deputy??!!
I feel like the last couple of days and weeks that anti-Trump sentiment has began to snowball. From the rally that expected 10k plus and got about 300, from the California recall, from the G.W. Bush 911 speech, to the book revelations that Gen. Milley actually had to call his Chinese counterpart and the ridiculous treatment of Mike Pence. It is not going well for Trump, and may it please continue.
Papa Frank had some thoughts on vaccine hesitancy…
"The ironies of life," he says.
Maybe he needs to do an encyclical entitled, "Karma is a bitch."
