“When ambitious desires arise in thy heart, recall the days of extremity thou has passed through.”
September 10, 1813 – The United States defeats a British Fleet at the Battle of Lake Erie during the War of 1812.
United States v. Texas
Let the good times roll.
I've sometimes wondered by it is the War of 1812 — the only conflict commonly identified by date in the long list of United States wars. The only other one that comes close in my recollection and checking a list is The Great Sioux War of 1876 (fought 1876-77).
In Colorado dates, this is the one-month mark since Mike Lindell's “cyber symposium” began — and Tina Peters' speech as the "highlight" of the first day.
In today's episode of Where's Tina Peters?
Wayne Williams doesn't know.
Yesterday's Secretary of State release: a reminder you don't have to tell nobody nothing.
In Response to Reported Unofficial Door-to-Door Canvassing of Colorado Voters, the Colorado Secretary of State’s Office Reminds Voters of Their Constitutionally Protected Rights
98% of the Blackfoot Nation is fully vaccinated. The Blackfoot Nation’s vaccination efforts have been so successful the tribe has gifted surplus vaccines to regional non-Native communities.
Meanwhile, in Georgia:
3-21 – Gov. Kemp receives J & J vaccine
7-21 – Gov. Kemp won’t mandate vaccines, blames POTUS for GA’s low vaccine rate
8-21 – Gov. Kemp announces COVID incentive. Stops forcing businesses to adhere to mask, vaccines. Signs Executive Order.
9-10 – Family member dies from COVID. Threatens to sue Biden over new vaccine mandate.
Somewhere in the middle of all this one can assume TFG makes a perfect call to Gov. Kemp.
What a *ucking tool.
Enjoy, DawnPatrol 🤣
Neal deGrasse Tyson might get me on to Twitter.
"Right now, in the USA, 99% of people being hospitalized & dying from COVID-19 are those who chose not to be vaccinated. This confirms that whoever’s been advising you to decline the Vaccine, does not value your health or longevity. A form of biological “unnatural” selection."
"Right now, in the USA, every 10 days more than 8,000 (unvaccinated) Republican voters are dying of Covid-19. That's 5 times the rate of Democrats."
California recall update. It looks like the vast majority in the Golden State have little interest in being governed by an anti-mask/anti-vax freedumb fighter. As of this morning Democrats have returned 3,852,837 ballots, 377,961 ballots more than the combined total of the Unafilliated (1,655,874) and Republicans (1,819,002)
For all the breathless reporting on Fox about the race, it looks like the adults in the room will be the victors. No sign of Trump swooping in to save the day. The state party is already planting seeds of rigged election if we don’t win ( a sure sign they know they won’t).
Please, California, please don't fuck this up. Larry Elder is batshit crazy.
A plurality (43%) of California unaffiliated voters lean Democrat, 29% lean R, 28% don't state preference. Unless the R's have a stampede of in-person voting next Tuesday the progressives are building a formidable cushion.
That is excellent news.
California, like Colorado, has more Republicans voting "on Election Day."
And given some of the stories on public radio "news" from small town diners in the Central Valley, at least some Democrats are not backing Newsom.
I felt a bit better when I read:
among the key findings of a statewide survey on state and national issues that was conducted from August 20 to August 29 by the Public Policy Institute of California.
I read they are projecting a win based on a 90% D affirmative vote to keep the Governor. They are also projecting 5% of Republicans will vote to keep him. Anecdotally my aunt and her friends, those I’d put in the ‘country club Republicans’ category, loathe Trump and MAGA. They’re voting to retain Newsom.
"No sign of Trump swooping in to save the day."
Definitely not gonna happen. But Elder has already announced that his team of lawyers (didn't catch any names but I'm guessing it won't be the Kraken Team) are getting ready to file a lawsuit promptly after the results are announced.
Tyson's second point? He says that like it's a bad thing. Seriously, I still think when this is all over, or at least under control, the collective I.Q. of the nation will have risen by at least a few points.
