We’re down to the last critical few weeks of the 2021 session of the Colorado legislature. And just like most years, many of the most important priorities we want to get passed this year are coming down to the final days and debates of the session.

These are the moments when people like you can make the biggest difference. On the defining issues of this session like health care, combating climate change, and investing in our aging transportation infrastructure, the big votes are almost here–and your lawmakers need to hear from you right now.

Action item #1 this week: help the progressive majority in the Colorado legislature bring down the cost of healthcare. House Bill 21-1232, the Colorado Option, is about one thing: saving you money on health care. This is legislation giving the insurance industry the chance to do what they say they can without “government interference,” reducing the cost of premiums to consumers by 18%. Don’t believe the hype. This isn’t a radical idea, it’s about saving Coloradans money on the healthcare we rely on every day.

Click here to urge your Colorado Senator to PASS House Bill 21-1232 and send it to Gov. Jared Polis’ desk without delay.

Action item #2: Hundreds of Coloradans per year are subjected to forced ketamine injections during police encounters. Almost 1 in 5 of these non-hospital ketamine injections result in serious complications and even death. Right now, lawmakers in Colorado have the power to end this inhumane, reckless, and lethal use of ketamine on unwilling civilians. They need to hear from you that this is critical to the safety of our communities. Click here to urge your Senators to SUPPORT House Bill 21-1251 to better regulate the use of chemical restraints.

Thanks for your timely assistance with these two important pieces of legislation. Here are a few more ways to make a difference for the week of May 24:
