  1. My wife is trying to get signed up for medical insurance through the Colorado Obamacare Exchange. I just got the following from her:

Do NOT try to get health insurance on the exchange. It’s useless! Not covered out of state, no way to tell if out of network is covered at all until you actually commit to a plan, and you can’t search by docs or hospitals – you have to go plan by plan. And there are 80 in Colorado. Shoot me.

And this is a woman who was CEO of a software company, so very technically literate.

After all these years you would think we would have a useable system for finding a plan on the exchange. Sad that the state is so fucking incompetent when it comes to software.

      1. You'd think a wealthy state could implement a simple software program.

You're right that we should have universal healthcare. But when all we have is Obamacare, you would think the states could do a good job creating the exchanges.

        1. My experience with the exchange last year was not as bad, if not good.
Pre-Medicare eligibility and post job-attached insurance, I applied for individual coverage on the health exchange. It was pretty straightforward once I did it myself. Earlier, I had tried to work with one of their “assistants”, private contractors who are supposed to help people navigate the system.

My “assistant” misinformed me abbout critical info, then “ghosted”- literally stopped communicating with me. Luckily, I was able to figure it out myself.

    1. David, my brother’s an insurance broker. Keeping up with all the plan changes keeps him busy. Let me know if you need a hand. I can get you in touch

    2. As someone with several years of experience with Connect for Health, let me add my two cents. The lack of out-of-state coverage, except for emergencies, is a real problem, especially if you have college-age children.

In-network and out of network is a huge issue too. Even if you determine who is in-network (I confirmed with the doctor's office and the insurance ahead of time), the providers can and do drop an insurance company after the sign-up period. You can only sign up during a limited window, and you are stuck for a year. The providers can come and go as they choose. So if you pay extra for a plan that includes your doctor, you may still not get your doctor.

The software is piss poor, but the bigger problem is structural. These issues could be fixed, but there is no will to do so.

  2. Grab ’em in the formative years and you have a MAGA for life? This baby-faced MAGA fraudster claimed to have 15yrs legal experience. He will have 13 months to consider the error of his ways.

Students for Trump founder John Lambert sentenced to 13 months for posing as a lawyer

Lambert grabbed headlines during the 2016 presidential campaign for the group he founded with classmate Ryan Fournier at Campbell University in Buies Creek, N.C., in 2015. Their Students for Trump group ran a Twitter account featuring photos of bikini-clad women and pics of themselves at political events.

“We’ve been told that we’re more organized than the actual Trump campaign,” Lambert told The Chronicle of Higher Education before the election.

    And then…the money shot:

Lambert’s attorney, Gary Peters, said he was disappointed with the sentence. He added that Lambert no longer supported Trump.

    1. Geez, so what's a little bit of fraud among Ttumpers and GOPers? . . .

      . . . Business as usual, that's all.

(Besides, we ain't got enough prisons for all of 'em.)

    1. Epic. It takes superhuman drive, determination and dedication to get one's entire bankruptcy case shitcanned as having been filed in bad faith. Conglaturation to the NRA for believing and achieving!
