    1. People like Nugent and Lindell just keep the celebration of stupidity going, demonstrating how easy it is to brainwash a substantial portion of our population.

    2. On my deathbed, I will beg the spirits for every minute back that I spent listening to Nugent in the 70s, before I knew anything about him as a person.

      1. I still maintain Nugent hasn't had a hit since the Horst Wessel Liad. (The Nazi Party anthem.  It had lyrics like "When Jewish blood is on our daggers, then Germany will be free." )

I'm rooting for the virus on this one.

        1. “Journey to the Center of the Mind,” released in 1968 by Ted and the original Amboy Dukes. Great song. I think I may have the 45 rpm record in my small collection of same.

        2. I believe this is a real quote from the Nuge: “You know, I guess I would ask you, because I’m addicted to truth, logic and common sense, and my common-sense meter would demand the answer to why weren’t we shut down for Covid one through 18?”

    1. I don't respect Lima beans.  I love them.  I have a pot in the fridge right now.  Soak them overnight and cook them with a leek and bok choy, plus carrots, celery, garlic and mushrooms.  Serve with raw, chopped onions.

A bit of meat is optional.  They are fabulous for diabetics like myself.

Take a bow, Dave.  You hit a home run.

    2. Growing up, I lacked ANY respect for lima beans, mainly because they appeared on the family dinner table as something out of a can called veg-all, advertised as "a delicious blend of seven different vegetables:" CARROTS, POTATOES, CELERY, SWEET PEAS, GREEN BEANS, CORN, LIMA BEANS.

Like nearly all of those vegetables, fresh lima beans are a world apart from those picked and canned and later served without great imagination.

      1. Veg-All, the result of scraping the bottom of each pot in the factory and putting it in a can. There is a rumor I've heard for years that Rocky Road is the Veg-All of ice creams.

      2. So true.  In a hurry I will sometimes us e canned Great Northern beans.  But limas– and, yeah, I hated them as a kid too — have a delicate flavor and deserve proper preparation.  While it takes a while to cook them, you just basically let them simmer while doing other things.

        1. And may I offer a paean to homegrown brussel sprouts. I spent most of my life pushing them away or nibbling grudgingly because “they’re good for me”🙄.

Then I grew some. They were delicious, without the bitterness I have come to expect.

          1. Almost any fresh garden grown vege is great.  Alas, my tiny 62.5 by 50 capitol Hill lot gives little chance for that.   Tha nk goodness for farmers markets.

      1. April is Parkinson’s Awareness Month. There will be a webinar tomorrow at 4 pm discussing the potential neuroprotective role of cannabinoids as well as the benefits of cannabinoid therapy to target symptoms of Parkinson's Disease. 1. Republican math is an enigma. Can the Denver housing market absorb 100 million new jobs?

    1. A dollar here, a job there … sooner or later you are talking about

If u lost ur pet pidgin /it’s dead in front yard my Iowa farm JUST DISCOVERED here r identifiers Right leg Blue 2020/3089/AU2020/SHE ///LEFT LEG GREEN BAND NO PRINTED INFO. Sorry for bad news

This reminder brought to you by Citizens for Voting as the best form of Term Limits.

  2. Today's GOP explained by Max Boot (seems pretty obvious, but it still works):

Why is the GOP waging a culture war? Follow the money.

…if you want to understand how the right got the way it is, follow the money. The GOP highlights culture-war issues to shake down rank-and-file donors while cutting taxes to please wealthy donors. Republicans have won the presidential popular vote only once since 1988, but they can’t afford to broaden their appeal by embracing a more populist economic agenda or by toning down the divisive social messages because either move would jeopardize the flow of fundraising. The right-wing money machine has become the tail wagging the Republican elephant.

  3. Some of the best news I saw all day, from the Sentinel.

Cumulatively, the 14-day incidence rate for vaccinated people is 29.6 per 100,000 people, compared to 413.8 per 100,000 unvaccinated people.

Those two studies demonstrated that people who are vaccinated are 93% to 94.6% less likely to contract the virus, Herhily said, which is consistent with data from other states and the rates identified in clinical trials.

The data clearly demonstrates that “vaccination is going to be our ticket out of this pandemic,” she said.

The state is still studying how much being vaccinated affects the severity of illness, she said, but according to CDC data about 30% of breakthrough cases are asymptomatic. Colorado has seen very low numbers of breakthrough cases requiring hospitalization, she said.
