        1. Just KKKidding. I read about that. Looks like Tucker wants to be the next “Hater in Chief”.

Do you think he really has presidential aspirations?

      1. From the NY Times:

"Mr. Carlson, … arguing that the Democratic Party was “trying to replace the current electorate, the voters now casting ballots, with new people, more obedient voters, from the third world.” He added that naturalized citizens were “diluting” the political power of him and other Americans.

        1. No shit…

I believe that sentiment has been expressed at other times in different places…

          Never with good outcomes.

          So, Tukker KKKarlsohn, it is.

  1. No week in the 51st-state is complete without a healthy serving of victimhood in our local papers. We are but mere subjects of constant assault by the Democrats on our way of life; underappreciated in every. way. imaginable.

REP. PELTON: Agriculture needs your respect

If we only spent a fraction of our time building bridges to the dummycrats our consumers that we do bloviating about our boot-strappin’-way-of-life on the prairie maybe we could make some progress? Or, we just steady the course and remain all-but-irrelevant in Colorado politics?

    1. The "just leave us alone" attitude is a losing proposition. Attitudes change across space and time. Images of chickens crammed into cages does not help create a positive image for agriculture.

Adaption is the key to survival in the long run.

    2. Rod Pelton represents the worst of what the Eastern Plains has to offer. Every time he opines, I wonder why the hell voters picked him over the qualified and progressive Bethleen McCall.

If he really wants consumers to “respect” the meat industry, said industry needs to get real about respecting and protecting its low-paid immigrant workforce. Covid ravaged the workers and closed meat plants, while management and politicians like Pelton, Sonnenberg,  and Gardner ignored it- they were mostly brown people, after all. And working conditions haven’t improved much since those outbreaks.

Consumers are cautious about meat for good reason.

      1. "…voters picked him (Pelton) over … McCall."

        1. Stop the press! Old white guy with an R after his name on the ballot wins over misunderstood younger women with a D.

        2. Has the 65th ever been represented by other than an older white man?

        3. He may be a jerk but he is our jerk. I am unaware of word to describe that phenomenon, but if there is one it would answer at least part of your wonder.

        1. As to 2: be careful what you wish for.  This area was once represented by Marilyn Musgrave whose many faults did not include being old and male.

          Sigh.

        2. Bethleen McCall was not a “misunderstood” younger woman running for the 65th. She was well known for her work on various  boards and the community college. Her talents are now hard at work representing the hemp  idustry to the NE Ag community.

And she got 23% of the vote in the general, in contrast to the previous ~ 20% “older white guys in cowboy hats” who ran as Dems in that race. Also see V’s flashback above on Marilyn Musgrave, who as far as I know never conceded, and still thinks she’s repping US CD4. Also Betsy Markey, who did a much better job of it. And Dr. Karen McCormick, who lost the 4th CD race, but now ably reps Colorado’s HD11. So yeah, women can win in that area….someday even in HD65.

Do you live in the 65th? What did you do to help Dems win in that district?

          1. Kwtree, Marilyn represented the 65th in the House and later the Senate in the lege before she went to Congress.  The district leans right politically but isn't prejudiced against women, as long as they are bat-shit crazy!

          2. She got 23% and the voters did understand her?

I do not reside in the 65th. I was not and am not criticizing Ms. McCall.

I was observing your “wonder.” Perhaps it was just a figure of speech. You know why the voters chose him. You reject the voters’s reasons. I do too.

Help D win the 65th? I did the same thing I did to help a D win in all kinds of knee-jerk red districts – contributed someplace else where a D could win. Specifically last cycle were D candidates in US senate races.

    3. The “agriculture” that sustainably husbands this planet’s land (air, water) and animals, and treats their workers well, has my utmost respect . . .

. . . The “agriculture” that treats any or all or the above as nothing more than expendable commodities, and operates their business as just another rapacious extraction industry, not at all.

  2. She was a fine lady. We used to be neighbors on Belaire St. in Park Hill and I spent a lot of time there while Gary was managing the McGovern campaign.

  3. Is there anything more delicious than watching Chris Christie spout his opinion on bridges and infrastructure?  We've boarded the 21st-century coal biodiesel train ex-gubner.  Don't look back, we're not going that way.

  4. The Republican Party, and in particular Moscow Mitch, may have to learn a hard lesson on what real power looks like.

More than a hundred corporate executives hold call to discuss halting donations and investments to fight controversial voting bills

With Sheldon Adelson dead, as well as David Koch, the GOP will have to lean on the Mercers and a few other fascist billionaires to fend off a revolt of the high-powered, sensible Republican business executives – not just a handful of Democratic billionaires any more.  John Boehner is not alone in kissing off the nutwingers that have hijacked the GOP.

    1. It's a good first step, but I think we need a serious "divestment" movement to pressure corporations to stops funding voter suppressors.

Money talks, and you know what walks. It's easy to put out a statement about how your company supports democracy. A good PR flack can do that in their sleep. But changing the donations, now that's gonna leave a mark.

Walmart, Comcast and AT&T are some of the lead funders of voter suppressors nationwide in case anyone feels like dropping them a line about why you won't be shopping there anymore.

  5. Matt Gaetz has never paid a woman for sex, but he has paid a guy who then paid a woman for sex.

    Person. Man. Woman. Venmo. Indictment.

  6. Biden Bars Trump From Receiving Intelligence Briefings, Citing ‘Erratic Behavior’

WASHINGTON — President Biden said on Friday that he would bar his predecessor, Donald J. Trump, from receiving intelligence briefings traditionally given to former presidents, saying that Mr. Trump could not be trusted because of his “erratic behavior” even before the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol.

The move was the first time that a former president had been cut out of the briefings, which are provided partly as a courtesy and partly for the moments when a sitting president reaches out for advice. Currently, the briefings are offered on a regular basis to Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama.

Mr. Biden, speaking to Norah O’Donnell of CBS News, said Mr. Trump’s behavior worried him “unrelated to the insurrection” that gave rise to the second impeachment of Mr. Trump.

“I just think that there is no need for him to have the intelligence briefings,” Mr. Biden said.

“What value is giving him an intelligence briefing?” Mr. Biden added. “What impact does he have at all, other than the fact he might slip and say something?”

    1. What's left unsaid is that 1) these intelligence briefings are provided for real presidents, 2) any intelligence briefings provided for Trump likely will find their way to Vladimir Putin's in-box.

    2. There are a few people (I said a few) who served in the Sad-ministration that can fill in any blanks in the goings-on during that time period if Biden's people need a briefing.
