  1. Gregg Smith (for CD-3) ⇨ Erik Prince ⇨ Khalifa Haftar ⇨ Vladimir Putin (Fat Donnie’s Bestie)

Yes, I am saying: guilt by association.

    https://www.greggforcongress.com/about

“Gregg was named CEO and Blackwater Founder Erik Prince”

    https://www.nytimes.com/2021/02/19/world/middleeast/erik-prince-libya-embargo.html

“Erik Prince, Trump Ally, Violated Libya Arms Embargo, U.N. Report Says…Eastern Libya is now in the hands of Khalifa Hifter, the powerful militia commander whom Mr. Prince agreed to support”

    https://www.aa.com.tr/en/africa/russia-sends-310-more-mercenaries-to-libya/2135156

“Russia sends 310 more mercenaries to Libya…In total, Russia has dispatched around 6,000 mercenaries from regions in Syria under the regime to fight in Libya at different times.”

    1. I'm more interested in Gregg Smith's broader bio … From the Colorado Sun:

Meet Gregg Smith, the Blackwater-connected Democrat new to Colorado and running to unseat Lauren Boebert

Now he lives on a ranch in Westcliffe, a small, conservative town west of Pueblo. Records show a company with his Arizona address bought the property, which includes two houses with a total of 10 bedrooms and 10 baths, in July for $1.5 million.

Smith registered in Custer County as an unaffiliated voter in March 2019, only switching to the Democratic Party on Friday, according to records from the Colorado Secretary of State’s office….

Smith spent 30 years as a “back-bench conservative Republican,” but says he is now a “firm” Democrat. He made a number of small donations to Democratic U.S. Senate candidates in 2020, including John Hickenlooper, Steve Bullock in Montana and Cal Cunningham in North Carolina, according to data from the Federal Election Commission

“I voted for Hillary (Clinton) in 2016. I voted for Joe (Biden) in 2020,” Smith said. “I firmly believe in the Democratic platform.”

      1. "I firmly believe in the Democratic platform." Once he loses the CD3 primary he'll change to something else again. And I would like to know more about the Erik Prince connection – his bio sounds as if it's whitewashing. Most of us would never do business with Prince to start with.

    1. And while being annoying, she demonstrates an unawareness of her own positions:  The last element of the column:

HuffPost: Rep. Lauren Boebert Ripped For Not Understanding Basics Of The Constitution

One man pointed out the real irony of Boebert’s tweet: She is currently co-sponsoring a Constitutional amendment to limit the number of terms a person can serve in Congress.

      Robert Schlesinger    @rschles

Congresswoman inveighs against rewriting the Constitution … while cosponsoring a Constitutional amendment.

      1. While she’s in Mar-a-Lago tonight (sans Moddy) raising funds to re-elect Mike Lee to a *third* term. (the proposed amendment limits a Senator to two terms)

  2. The GJ Daily Sentinel is as annoying as Lauren, Calamity Jane, Boebert.  No matter how stupid, inane and otherwise unnews worthy her statements,  they put her front and center.  It's embarrassing to call them a newspaper.

    1. It's the only way to learn about the stupid she spreads locally. I noted the article repeated a couple of times she fully blamed the Texas debacle on frozen windmills.

      1. Well, the Communists at the Wall Street Journal disagree with Qbert.

        https://www.wsj.com/articles/texas-freeze-power-grid-failure-electricity-market-incentives-11613777856

"A fundamental flaw in the freewheeling Texas electricity market left millions powerless and freezing in the dark this week during a historic cold snap.

The core problem: Power providers can reap rewards by supplying electricity to Texas customers, but they aren’t required to do it and face no penalties for failing to deliver during a lengthy emergency."

        1. …and according to ERCOT, the half of wind fleet that didn’t freeze (an avoidable scenario) produced as much energy as was forecast for the entire fleet ahead of the storm. She is mind-numbingly ignorant.

    2. Give the Sentinel a break on this one. Reporter Charles Ashby correctely noted how wrong she was with an in-story fact check on frozen natural gas facilities. He also noted her remarks were to the Chamber of Commerce energy committee, made up of oil and gas fans and no one else.

It's not one of the better papers around, but gawd help us it's the only one we've got.

        1. The Free Press didn't have a chance, really. First, they decided to be a “community'' newspaper — heavy on fluffy features, light on actual news. Second, the internet came along.

          1. I wonder how a bi-weekly hyperlocal would do if it covered from. Ridgeway to Craig and reported politics, council and commission meetings, Westslope issues in energy and agriculture, outdoors, etc. A sort of Colorado Sun for the region.

    1. See Naomi Klein in today's NYT.

The Green New Deal is a serious threat. Given the crisis in capitalist energy markets (thanks Enron!), the GND is a solution ready to be deployed:

To explain this phenomenon, I often quote a guru of the free market revolution, the late economist Milton Friedman. In 1982, he wrote about what he saw as the mission of right-wing economists like him: “Only a crisis — actual or perceived — produces real change. When that crisis occurs, the actions that are taken depend on the ideas that are lying around. That, I believe, is our basic function: to develop alternatives to existing policies, to keep them alive and available until the politically impossible becomes politically inevitable.

    1. MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell says products were dropped from major retailers after voter fraud claims

MyPillow CEO and ardent Trump supporter Mike Lindell says his products have been dropped by major retailers like Bed Bath & Beyond and Kohl's after his repeated false claims of voter fraud in the presidential election.

Lindell told NBC Minnesota affiliate KARE on Monday that HEB Stores, Wayfair and Canada's Today's Shopping Choice channel had also stopped selling his products. MyPillow, the bedding company with commercials starring Lindell, is based in Chaska, Minnesota.

    2. Now on sale, new limited edition “My Favorite QOPer Crying Towel” . . .

Also, new and for a limited time, “My Favorite Bedtime Pistol Hiding Place” . . .

. . . Supplies are limited, so please, no orders of more than twenty pillows per day . . .

      Marketing, Mike!  Marketing!

  3. (Rumble is headquartered in Canada)

Osama bin Cokehead has been thinking and has some things to say.

  4. It's Alabama but… maybe our boot-strapping troll could help us out on how unions are a good thing given he's protected by one?
