According to today’s Gazette, Duncan Bremer’s campaign conducted a poll with the following results:
Lamborn 22%
Crank 15%
Bremer 13%
Anderson 9%
Rivera 9%
Rayburn 5%
Undecided 26%
This poll is consistent with the polls of all the other campaigns that show Lamborn staying on top in the low to mid 20s. The only difference between Bremer’s poll and the polls of the other candidates is that the other polls have Rivera in second, about 8-10 percent behind Lamborn. This race is basically over. Early voting closes today and mail-in ballots have been cast, so approximately half of the total vote is already in. There is no way Rivera or any of the other candidates can make up such a significant difference just on election day. REMEMBER YOU READ IT HERE FIRST. The final numbers on Tuesday night:
Lamborn 28
Rivera 21
Crank 19
Anderson 14
Rayburn 12
Bremer 6

If that many people are undecided and still have time to vote, none of it’s going to Lamborn.
I didn’t see that in the Gazette or on their website.
Those aren’t viewable online unless you open up the paper as a pdf file and scroll to whatever page in the metro it is in.
I don’t know whether your figures will be accurate or not, but I sure hope they are not. At least 4 (maybe 5) of the candidates are actively campaigning to be the most extreme, conservative person on the planet, and your figures imply that more than half the Republicans and Independents who will vote in this election throughout the 5th District support such nonsense and would willingly elect such idiots.
If elected, most of these guys would be an embarrasment to our community. Any thinking person who listens to these guys and has followed the negative ads and campaign shenanegans (e.g., stealing signs, filing police reports against one another) has to wonder what they are smoking (maybe we should check the signatures on the SAFER petition). Consider what they’ve pledged to do as first term Congressmen:
Eliminate the IRS? (Crank)
Eliminate our dependence on foreign oil? (Rivera)
Amend the Constitution to define marriage and ban abortion? (Lamborn, Rayburn)
I love you. (Bremer)
Whoever is elected will be a first time Congressmand competing/working with 435 Representatives and 100 Senators. They’ll be spending the first year just trying to find their way to and from their office.
If I worked at the IRS, I sure wouldn’t be worried about updating my resume.
If I was fighting in Iraq and saw that these guys pledged to support me (and would represent me when I mustered out at Ft. Carson), I’d double up on the body armor.
They’ve all pledged to cut wasteful spending, but give the wads of money they’ve spent littering our community with signs, ads and mailers, I’m pretty sure that falls into the same category as “I promise to respect you in the morning.”
Eliminating our dependence on foreign oil and scrapping the IRS???!!!! OH MY GOD, WHAT HORRIBLE IDEAS, SOCIETY AS WE KNOW IT WILL COLLAPSE!!!!!
