  1. So I have no connection to what young people are listening to anymore.  Thank goodness for NPR.  I was driving home from Cabela’s the other day and I heard this girl’s second album being reviewed on NPR.  I got home and researched her, and she has the #1 Album on the Billboard charts this week, smoking even Lady Ga Ga.

I really like her music and especially her voice. it has a real smoky Carole King quality to it.  These tunes are from her first album.

    1. For the musicians out there, Adrian Belew’s electric guitar training videos are also uploaded on YouTube.

I’d just like to point out that he learned his chops playing for Frank Zappa….

      1. he offered to teach me to play.  I was too “busy.”   (We mostly ran into each other between 3 and 4 am at the burrito microwave at 7-11.)

Though I did enjoy goofing around with Tony Levin who taught me a few moves on the Stick.

  2. On Feb. 1 Pols promised answers to Pols Mailbag, Vol. 2.

On March 11, there are still no answers, no explanations.

To quote one of the greatest bands of all time (and band that Gov. Hick hosted for lunch in his office at City Hall):

Pols: Your Phone’s Off the Hook (But You’re Not).

  3. Song associated with the labor movement, about twenty years before this version below was recorded. Some of the older, alternative verses:

Whenever I get all the money I earn,

The boss will be broke, and to work he must turn.

Oh, I like my boss, he’s a good friend of mine,

That’s why I am starving out on the bread line.
