  1. According to Vox,(feel free to check the math) the 50 Democratic senators represent about 41.5 million more Americans than the 50 GOP senators;  i.e., the Dems represent about 63% of the US population; i.e., a vote that obtains 50 Dem senators would exceed the 60 vote filibuster percentage if based on US population.  So, who needs a filibuster rule?

  2. Video Evidence of Incitement at the Capitol

Stuart M. Gerson, former Acting Attorney General of the United States, Assistant Attorney General, and Assistant United States Attorney:

Unable effectively to lead a country beset with a pandemic and critical challenges from foreign adversaries, Donald Trump gave criminal aid and comfort to a mindless minority whose aim was to overthrow its constitutional government and replace it with an autocracy alien to the republic our founders gave us.

    1. Of course, aren’t bullets a natural resource???

. . . but seriously, what existing committee would she not be unqualified for?  There’s no House Committee on Remedial Food Preparation Safety Education . . .

    2. She must be very disappointed. I'm sure she would rather be on the Sub-committee on Sub-machine guns, or something.

Since she doesn't know anything about natural resources, she is probably harmless. Although it might be fun to see her go all Gym Jordan and start berating witnesses in the hearings.

    3. Clerk of the House of Representatives does not yet have any committee assignment for Boebert:  https://clerk.house.gov/members/B000825

But there is an announcement https://republicans-naturalresources.house.gov/newsroom/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=409446

I know the topic is important to Colorado, but it seems a bit odd to me … Lamborn continues on the committee. According to the list on the Chairman's page, DeGette and Neguse are on the committee, too.

  3. Daily Kos "Morning Digest" pushed out this bit of info today:

CO-Sen: Former state Rep. Joe Salazar says he's weighing a primary challenge to Democratic Sen. Michael Bennet, complaining that Bennet is "so wishy-washy and so middle-of-the-road that we don't know which road he walks on." Salazar, a prominent Bernie Sanders surrogate in Colorado, specifically criticized Bennet for what he views as insufficiently progressive stances on healthcare and the environment.

Salazar served three terms in the state House before running for attorney general in 2018, losing the primary 50.4 to 49.6 to Phil Weiser, who went on to win the general election.

Statewide open primary, pitting "wishy washy" Bennet against "prominent Sanders Surrogate" Salazar.  Anyone want to guess whether he would do better or worse than Andrew Romanoff did against Hick?

    1. Or Romanoff vs. Bennet a few years ago? I’ll guess if it winds up a two-person race the results would be more or less the same, Salazar might do better in the caucus/assembly while Bennet wins by 10-15% in the primary. But about 20 Dems at least ran for a while in 2020, and I’d expect to see more than 2 candidates in 2022. To me, it’s way premature for anyone to say Salazar’s the one to focus on, just because he’s talking about running before everyone else jumps in.

        1. Don't forget that Joe Salazar came within 4800 votes of winning the AG primary statewide – although out-funded. He had grassroots folks, including the Bernie people, working hard for him.

The Colorado map of Weiser vs. Salazar looked like a donut, with all the red rural districts going for Joe, and the Weiser support in the cities in the middle.

    2. Bennet would beat Salazar like a toy drum.  It takes people a while to realize he’s not close kin to ken or John, but then they drop Joe.   KWTree worships him, a pretty good sign of his electoral insignifigance.

      1. Bored, V? Back to your old schtick of attacking fellow Polsters, instead of policies or candidate records. It is easier, I guess.

What exactly is your beef with Joe Salazar? Policy-wise, I mean.

  4. I see a coalition of business groups is going to come out against the $15 minimum wage, prompting this tweet from Nick Hanauer who spoke some hard truths on capitalism:
