We think we’re speaking for everyone when we say to hell with 2020.

  1. Yesterday, Moscow Mitch McConnell put a couple extra marbles in his mouth and said the Senate would not be “bullied” into sending borrowed money to the “Democrats’ rich friends who don’t need it”.

What the fuck is he talking about?
    What did I miss?

    1. Whether that was a gaffe or not it's a departure from moscow mitch's usually veiled and indirect statements.

Now would be the time for a D message machine to rip him to shreds for even having thoughts like that …. if they had a machine, that is.

        1. That would be moscow mitch’s strawman. The Ds he wants to have this argument with don’t have any friends who need help. All of their friends are as rich as his (MM’s) friends are and would just spend the money at the country club bar (though that would stimulate that part of h economy).

Bottom line, mm doesn’t want to give money to anyone but his donors …. a regift.

The Ds need to march in outrage over that statement and generate the questions that the press will confront him with. It needs to be a campaign so loud and harsh that even Fox takes note and joins in.

MM got caught flatfooted and could not come up with a ruse to disguise his contempt for the people who need help. He stumbled and these are the words that came out of his pie hole.

              1. Mitch just said the quiet part out loud: #TrickleDownEconomics (known as Peyronie's Curvature in medical circles)

                1. Thank you so much, Granpy Yertle!! (said every one of Mitch’s rich grandkids) — Can we have another tax deduction, now, before lunch?!!  Can we, can we?  Oh, please, please, please . . .

                  1. Now, McConnell says $2,000 is just fine … as long as Section 230 goes away and Congress gets to have a voting commission to investigate all that (unseen, unproven) fake voting.

Apparently, borrowing is NOW good if we can just poke ourselves in the eye every time we say something mean on the innernetz.

                    1. Grandkids — hmmh, just when you think you had ’em figured out?!?

Apparently the little buggers are now interested in some new, shiny voter suppression for 2022 . . .

      1. Yeah, wouldn't recommend holding your breath for that machine to kick in. All we'll get is a long list of statistics "proving" why $2000 is better than $600. In the end, that kind of explication just makes us Ds look Dumb.

        1. Ya. The plumbing in the hierarchy has been way too clogged for way too long for that machine to even start up.

But stats make Ds look smart. The Rs ridicule the aigheads because it makes their base feel better.

          Examples:

Inhofe playing with snowballs on the Senate floor in the winter claiming that snow in winter is proof that climate change is a hoax.

recently-pardoned ex-Senator Stockman wondering out loud why the water in his glass doesn't overflow when the ice cubes melt. Then claims the same principle applies to the polar ice caps so that sea-level rise is a hoax.

  2. The Small Colorado Town Shrugged Off the Pandemic. Then Came the Coronavirus Variant.

Simla, Colo., an isolated ranching community, is the site of the first known case in the United States of a new, more infectious variant of the coronavirus.

IMHO the hidden story is that CO deserves praise for actually doing the tests that can find the variant in the midst of all the sickness. Soon it will dominate all infections in all states in urban and rural areas.

I have to wonder if it is possibly wrong to think that the variant in CO came from the UK even though it has the same markers. Couldn't the virus mutate in the same way here on it's own? It will probably mutate again and again until we get it wiped out.

  3. After years of not participating I returned only to find the broad number of citizens commentators seem to be missing.  Is it just me or has CO Pols become inside baseball?

    1. It is just you. We have seen a bit of a drop off from the right side of the political spectrum, but it seems they are having ever increasing difficulty in justifying or defending their ever more convoluted claptrap.

      But…welcome back.😏

      1. Great to be a few hours from having 2020 in the rear view mirror.  It'll also be awesome when Dump is an afterthought, and I really hope legitimate media denies him of oxygen when he is no longer President. He can just do his bullshit rallies as he walks into the sunset.

      2. This is my 14th (and last) day in quarantine with the Trump virus.  It was a moderate case, managing just one hospital day. Still dealing with horrendous headaches and not much stamina – but there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Happy Last Day (although it feels like 1/19/21 is the real last day) and all the best to you and your loved ones.

        1. Great to hear from you …

Catching up with relatives over the past week, the one household with a full-blown outbreak has a 4 year old who was a little fussier than usual and had nasal symptoms like a cold; and her two parents who each had the loss of stamina; horrendous headaches for nearly a week; and a loss of their senses of taste and smell. SLOWLY coming back, apparantly.  The mother has a long history of migraines, and described her COVID headaches as longer and worse.

Hope your headaches diminish and you return to health.

  4. #ThereIsATweetForEverything

Biden frustration grows over lack of Trump cooperation in transition

“Make no mistake, this lack of cooperation has real world consequences, most concerningly as it relates to national security,” Yohannes Abraham, executive director of the Biden-Harris transition, said Wednesday during a briefing with reporters. “This intentionally generated paucity makes it harder for our government to protect the American people moving forward.”

Are we moving into #WagTheDog territory? How many cards does Grandpa Krazypants have left to play?

              1. I found this gem in the thread, too:

Selling the Soul of Franklin Graham

These men end up spending their entire lives breathing solely in the intoxicating air of sycophant’s praises; never protected from their own hubris, never cautioned against their recklessness, never alerted to the ways they’ve lost the plot or begun leasing off large sections of their credibility for temporary rewards.

                1. Very powerful.  Thanks for highlighting it.  Here's more that really gets to the heart of it for me:

These are such days for men like Franklin Graham and Jerry Falwell Jr, and for those who emulate them. This is how far they have drifted, and it’s going to be almost impossible for them to make their way back, because to do that, they would have to do something they have proven unwilling or unable to do: own their mistakes, admit their failings, cop to their poor alliances, and confess their present sins in the ascension of this President.

                  These men need Jesus.
                  They need repentance.
They need to have the scales fall from their eyes, and to see accurately the horrors they’ve manufactured against so many people made in the image of God.
They need to own and confess the ways they’ve denied Jesus, the millions of millstones they’ve tied around the necks of their followers.
They need to lament becoming beholden to Donald Trump and the Republican Party and Fox News, and to the supremacists and bigots who now compromise the lion’s share of their ever-shrinking but increasingly militant white base.
