      Two weeks ago, several hundred people gathered at a community church in the county seat of Kiowa to consider whether to pursue legal actions against Polis and other state officials for imposing coronavirus-related restrictions, according to the Elbert County News. County commissioners and the county sheriff have declined to enforce restrictions emanating from Denver.

      1. “Emanating”. What a value-laden word. It frequently implies odor. A better, simpler, and value-neutral word choice might have been “came out of” – for example, “County commissioners and the county sheriff have declined to enforce restrictions that came out of Denver”.    A congressman-elect from Louisiana died from Covid-19 complications.

   Luke Letlow, a Republican who was elected to the House of Representatives this month to represent Louisiana’s Fifth Congressional District, died on Tuesday evening of complications from Covid-19, a spokesman said. He was 41.

3. Wednesday's briefing included:

   Health officials say a Colorado National Guard member has the first reported U.S. case of COVID-19 variant and a second case is suspected in another Guard member.

   Dr. Rachel Herlihy, the state's epidemiologist, said Wednesday that the two were deployed on Dec. 23 to a nursing home with an outbreak of the virus in a small town outside Denver.
