  1. Did you watch or have you read President-elect (again) Biden’s speech last night?

From my point of view, the timing and the content made it a near perfect speech. Delivery, with a hoarse voice and lots of coughing, was not ideal. Content, on the other hand, was spot on. Biden was able to point to the recognition of the will of the voters, without even one negative reference to the choice when voting.

And then a fine selection of barbs of Trump & Co., talking about the efforts to overthrow the voters’ choice, referencing the (many) lost court battles and the fruitless attempts to bully state officials. A direct comparison to his own role in the 2017 Electoral College, recognizing Trump’s win, versus the current *resident’s unwillingness to see reality of a loss.

    1. I'm surprised Trump didn't pick up on the coughing and declare that Biden has the COVID hoax, is too sick to become president, Kamala Harris is a Marxist and therefore Trump should remain president. Pretzel logic to the end.

    2. I agree, Biden's barbs were perfect and his denunciation of the intimidation of the election workers was the best part although I would have picked a sharper word than "unconscionable" to describe it. Barbarous comes to mind.

  2. Georgia voters shattered records on the first day of early voting ahead of the run off Senate races next month, according to Nate Cohn.

Approximately 168,000 people voted in-person yesterday, up from 136,000 on the first day of in-person early voting for the presidential election

  3. At long last and however briefly, Mitch McConnell has pulled his head out of his ass.  Admitting "The Electoral College has spoken," he congratulated Biden and Harris on their victories today.

  4. We all know one (or a dozen):

    MAGA COVID timeline:
    1. Ok, there’s a lockdown.
    2. I’m bored. Open it all up!
    3. It’s open, but I don’t wanna wear a mask!
    4. Why are you shutting things down?!
    5. I’m bored. COVID isn’t real. Masks don’t work.
    6. I’m going to ignore all the experts.
    7. I got COVID. Help me!

  5. Maybe it won’t look like a bloviating, thrice-married-family-values-hypocrite married to bad hair?

What will US-Holy See diplomacy look like under the Biden administration?

Luckily for Biden, he will not be starting his collaboration with Francis from scratch. He is already a familiar face at the Vatican who has participated in numerous diplomatic endeavors especially during President Barack Obama's second term.

Among the central diplomatic successes that Obama and Biden brought into fruition was the normalization of diplomatic relations between Washington and Havana. In fulfilling this long-held Vatican foreign policy objective, Francis, the first Latin American pope who had written extensively on the need to create dialogue with Havana, together with Obama, have left their mark on history.

    1. Would love to see productive forward progress on our relationship with Cuba. Visited there in 2019 – just an amazing place (the people, the culture, the natural beauty). Cuba could serve a significant role in appropriate alliances with the US, such as in medicine, tourism, education, culture, and more.

      1. Ageee!  I was there in 2005 and was struck by the many practices used in organic agriculture came from Cuban farmers. They created a gold standard. Late stage lung cancer?  They have a $20 shot for that.  Beautiful, warm souls.

  6. 2022 Headline:  “Russia hacking of Defense, State, HHS, etc agencies in 2020 created untold havoc.”
Donald Trump has been a Russian agent since the start of his 2016 campaign.  What possibly transpired during the numerous meetings with Putin without any Americans in the room?  Now, while being distracted by the Electoral College silliness, we are slowly learning of Russian hacking of all of our most important federal agencies.  It will take a couple of years for all of the consequences of these hacks to be disclosed.  Mark my words:  the consequences will be stunning.

  7. Gambling is officially no longer just a tax on the poor, but also the stoopid.  I thought these maroons hated taxes?!?

They Bet Big on Trump. Now They Claim Fraud.

Despite betting money on President Donald Trump’s re-election, Helen was unfazed when Joe Biden was declared the victor.

She watched press conferences by Trump surrogates who claimed the election was a fraud. She watched a pro-Trump web show that alleged the same. Then, using the online gambling service Betfair, she wagered even more money on a Trump victory after Election Day.

“To be honest, the more likely it looked like fraud, the more I bet,” Helen, an Amsterdam-based British woman who declined to give her last name, told The Daily Beast.

    1. Of course it was fraud, which fortunately now is fully protected as a religion — Thank Ttumpus for the Supremes!

Say four Hail Donnies, and three Our Chosen Ones . . . and go and give the rest of your money to Paula White.

Tax? Psah! — it was a love offering.
