Jill Biden apparently tweeted out a photo with Joe in a Biden #46 hat. I'm wondering if those will become valuable eccentricities — with Trump coming down with something awful and resigning, with Pence becoming #46 in time to pardon all of the Trump family members.
Fortunately, pardons aren’t for future crimes. And wouldn’t they need to be charged with a crime before it could be pardoned?
They would have to explicitly confess to breaking federal laws in order to be pardoned. Anything discovered later would not be covered. And of course, state criminal investigations would not be affected. And as OJ found out, civil suits could serve the cause of justice as well.
But, yeah, Pence might become #46 for a few weeks, given the norm-breaking Trump regime years.
Pizza actually worked! After years toiling in newsrooms on election nights, I realized Friday evening we had not yet had pizza for the longest presidential election night ever. So I ordered some.
And Biden was called the winner this morning!
But I’M going to take credit – 20 hours ago I officially called the election:
“I hereby officially call the election: Biden and Harris are the winners. They are our next President and Vice President. Congratulations to our President-elect and Vice-President-elect! #CallTheElection”
Mike Littwin has an excellent column worth reading. He dug up a 65 year old quote I’d never heard, but explains a lot — where the GOP’s current mindset really became mainstream (when Joe McCarthy was thought merely to be an aberration).
Nixon was a better president than Trump. Reasons I know this: signed the National Environmental Policy Act, signed the Endangered Species Act, banned DDT, signed the Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act, created the EPA.
What has Trump done other than being a tool of the oil & gas industry? He did sign the Great Outdoors America Act, but probably did so only as a sop to the Senate campaigns of Cory Gardner and Steve Daines.
It was a Democratic Congress that passed these acts, but Nixon did sign them. Credit where credit's due.

Fortunately, Biden’s call for unity is more aligned with Stevenson’s philosophy, and we are fortunate that Biden actually won and is a position to follow his better angels.
Neither Biden nor trmp has 50% in Georgia at this point. Will the presidential race go to a runoff in GA if neither reaches 50%?
