  1. Trump stinks.  He really, really, really stinks.

Tune, Give me the beat boys and free my soul, I want to get lost in your rock and roll.

    -0-

Oh. Give me Febreze boys and Irish Spring,

    Trumpstink is an awful thing

    So vote today.

    Vote out the stink

    And the stinking clan

Vote out this nation’s stupidest man

    So vote today.

Biden may not have been your very first choice

But he will give us all a voice

    And he doesn’t stink.

And our Kamala smells so sweet

Mike Pence stinks from kissing Trump’s rear seat.

    So vote today!

  2. MSNBC election night drinking game:

    * A talking head says "the great state of" – one shot

    * They go to "Steve Kornacki at the big board" – one shot

    * A former Democratic primary contender shows up – one shot

    * James Carville says something insightful – two shots

    Add your own!

    1. * A talking head says "the great state of" – one shot

Haven't done any drinking at all since 1983, but I gotta believe a person would be totally hammered by 7:30 eastern time adhering to that.

      1. Well, now we wouldn’t want the talking heads to call out the states as they really are:

        Mississippi, the Gerrymander state

        Alabama, Backward  and Proud.

Georgia “ We won’t count your vote.”
Florida: “ enjoy our beaches while they’re still above water.”

California: We  trended it  first.or,  Blue Who?

Wyoming: Sheep are people, too, my friend.
Is Colorado still the Centennial state?

    2. I rarely watch MSNBC as I find their talking heads incredibly annoying. Rachael Maddow has the ability to make me dislike ideas I support because she is so focused on getting everyone to catch a case of the vapors over each issue.

      CNN baby!

      1. Agreed on Maddow. No CNN for us, either. After all of his years in teevee, Wolf Blitzer still can't ad lib to save his life. Unless he's reading off the teleprompter, he's spewing "uh's," such as, "We'll go now, uh, to John King, who has "uh" fresh numbers for us.

I'll try the OTA networks tonight.

      2. CNN is better for breaking news, but you're missing out on Joe Scarborough (former GOP congressman), Nicolle Wallace (former GOP campaign honcho for McCain), and Brian Williams.  Their regular guests including Eugene Robinson, David Plouffe, Bob Costa, Claire McCaskill, Jon Mecham, Steve Schmidt, Jonathan Lemiere, etc., etc. are worth every minute of my time.

CNN, on the other hand, wastes my time with GOP representatives like Rick Santorum, the smarmy guy from Louisville, KY,  Mary Stewart(?) and others who spin so shamelessly that it's embarrassing.

But, as we say in my business: "There's no accounting for taste."

        1. Kayleighanne McEnConway was a frequent commentator on CNN before Fat Donnie from Queens snapped her up. She was as bad on CNN as she is today, but y'know, viewers got both sides of an issue???

        2. Our remote location has us still relying on broadcast TV. Of the 5 networks available to us. We prefer CBS and PBS.

John Dickerson, Ed’Okeefe, Nora, Gayle, Major Garrett…but both my Cat and I have a crush on the inimitable Weija Jiang.

    1. And incredibly they closed the training slides with this Nazi exhortation:

A closing slide of the Powerpoint simply states “Über Alles” in large text. The phrase, which was previously part of the German national anthem, translates to “above all” or “above everything else,” commonly used to signify national superiority. Modern Germans heavily associate the phrase with the Nazis.

The militarization of the police is an extreme solution in search of a problem.

    2. That’s just all kinds of disturbing, but it does explain a lot. It goes with what I posted a couple weeks ago about the “warrior training”, that teaches cops to see all but themselves as “the enemy”.

    1. The Senate going 54 Dem.

Sussing out your scenario, I'm thinking that means:

      -1, AL 46 D

      +1 CO 47 D

      +1 AZ 48 D

      +1 NC 49 D

      +1 ME 50 D

      +1 GA-A 51 D

      +1 GA-B 52 D

      +1 IA 53 D

Where would seat 54 come from?

      1. I think 50/49 w/ one seat in GA TBD in January is realistic.

        Dems lose Alabama (sadly, although Doug Jones would make an excellent AG in the Biden administration);

        Dems pick up Maine, North Carolina, Arizona and Colorado;

One of the Georgia seats – probably the one with Warnock and Corrupt Kelly – to be determined in January.

  3. The market appears pretty jazzed over a likely Dem sweep, and the economic stimulus, and the rise in international trade that would follow:

    DOW 27571.29  646.24 ( 2.40%)

    NASDAQ 11178.40  220.79 ( 2.01%)

    S&P 3382.88  72.64 ( 2.19%)

    10 YR. T-NOTE 0.89  0.42 ( 4.95%)

    1. That's correct about the market finally acknowledging a Dem victory.  What they are forgetting about this time is the unmitigated s*show that Trump may inflict in the next three months until 1/20/21.

I sold all my retirement stock investments, one-half on 1/2/20 after we were ten minutes from war with Iran and, the other half in February, 2020 when I learned of the expectation of worldwide shutdowns due to Covid.  I haven't regretted whatever stock market gains, if any, that I might have missed.  I won't get back into the market until after 1/20/21 assuming a Biden victory, and when an effective vaccine is found.

  4. Four years ago my wife and I attended a Dems Abroad party at a bar in Auckland, New Zealand.  A college student thought that Trump would win and I bet her 5 NZ dollars and told her I felt guilty about taking her money.  Next, I became the American man on the street for a Radio NZ reporter who began a series of interviews with me.

Interview #1: Hillary will win, it's just a matter of how much.  Interview #2: We didn't need FL and weren't expecting it anyway.  Interview #3: We didn't need OH and weren't expecting it anyway.  But, we did need to win PA, WI and MI.  And, that's okay because Democrats had never lost those before.

Interview #4: As PA is starting to fall, the reporter says I'm not as optimistic as before.  I said, "You're about to see a grown man cry."

I paid off my bet to the student and walked out of the bar.

  5. Can we have a Pols poll on the Electoral vote outcome, even if we won’t know the final count for many days?

My conservative and hopeful guess is 321 Biden.

That leaves IA, TX, OH, and FL on the table.

  6. Is it too over the top to ignore Godwin's Law and begin to compare Trump and the GOP to Nazis?

Beyond all of the authoritarian actions and rhetoric, I'm thinking about the Covid deaths that will be caused if Trump is re-elected.  He will "Fire Fauci" and replace him with "Dr." Atlas who is promoting herd immunity.  Herd immunity could easily result in two million or more US deaths.  Deaths that could have easily been avoided by just wearing masks.  Add that to Trump's belief in a Unitary Executive (endorsed by William Barr) that states Article 2 gives the president unlimited power (checks and balances be damned), and we are well on our way to a fascist regime.

I am only one generation removed from Nazi Germany.  I've always been mystified by how that happened.  I believe that German citizens' lack of vocal opposition, willful ignorance, and just plain racism allowed it to happen.  Just sayin' when I am told to embrace current Trump supporters even after a Biden victory.

    1. Short answer: no. No, it isn't.

Good news is that all of my California extended family who denied and buried the existence of our Austrian Jewish kin, who completely disconnected from that entire cultural heritage, are now never-Trumpers. So maybe they did learn something.

      1. Short answer: yes, it is over the top. And any comparison of Trump & his enablers to nazis demeans the memory of the millions who died at Hitler's desire and takes away the shock value of the Holocaust.

If you need to compare, try historic fascists like Mussolini, Franco, Stroessner; and modern day fascists like Putin, Erdogan, Duterte, and Maduro.

  7. One thing that makes me very optimistic – Trump's support is 38% – 42% and the vast majority of them will drive through a small nuclear war to vote for him.

Everyone else spans the gamut from conservative but done with Trump to very very liberal. And they're all voting Democratic.

And so, the larger the turnout, the more Democratic it is.

    1. They’re too busy polishing their resumes to worry about such trivial things as doing their jobs (except for anything that sabotages that which they are charged to protect).  Just as Moddy.

  8. So. Much. Winning.

US to exit Paris accord whether Trump or Biden wins

No matter the Election Day outcome, one thing is certain: The U.S. will officially leave the Paris climate accord on Wednesday.

The withdrawal, set in motion with a letter from President Trump last year, means the U.S. will be the only country in the world that isn't formally participating in the landmark climate agreement.

If Trump is reelected, the U.S. will remain the lone dissenter on the world stage. Biden, however, has pledged to rejoin the accord on his first day in office, leaving the U.S. out of the agreement for little more than three months.
