  1. Looking forward to reading how well Trump's weekend of talking to Evangelical leaders, announcing his nominee for Supreme Court, two campaign stops in PA, a round of golf, a news conference and a meeting with Gold Star Families helped him prepare for the debates.

I read he met with Chris Christie and Rudy Giuliani to talk about debating … that may have been useful, too.  Rudy provided the scoop to Fox and Friends.  Daily Beast headline summarizes:

Fox & Friends’ Hosts Look On in Horror as Rudy Giuliani Blurts Out Biden Dementia Conspiracy Theory

    1. Trump doesn't need to prep.  He'll just make shit up as he goes along and Chris Wallace will be silent.  Who the fuck picked this Fox News anchor to be the moderator?  Where are the League of Women Voters when you need them?

  2. Giuliani was part of the team that did debate prep with Trump. The demented talking to the demented.

These presidential debates should take place only on nights when the moon is full.

    1. Don't forget, Governor Donuts was in the room, as well. There is no more of a mealy-mouthed opportunist than Christie. He has been trying to get back in that door for quite a while.

He is convinced the O.D.s' problems are only because his obnoxious self wasn't running things.

    1. Oh, yeah, no question. We’re now down to calling people “stupid bastards.” Where’s the hook – drag him off the stage. At the very least, cut his mic.

  3. Gonna have to take my ‘Fire the Liar’ yard sign for another long walk down the boulevard again tomorrow.
I actually found myself tonight standing in front of the tv with my fists clenched. I’ve never ever even yelled at a tv before but came close t o punching one tonight.

  4. FU Chris Wallace.  You allowed Trump to prevent a debate from happening.  It embarrassed and disgraced our country.  You get zero sympathy from me no matter how “hard” it was to tell Trump to shut up.  Maybe the next female moderators will have more, umm, fortitude.

    FU Chris Wallace.

    1. Wallace clearly failed. You would think they would have been better prepared for the growling hyena. He simply needed to be cut off (meaning his mic) each time, after one warning. The fact that Trump apparently thought his outrageous behavior would win him the debate shows how much he has deteriorated mentally.

      1. No kill switch … rules, donchaknow.

Commission on Presidential Debates did have a statement today (Wednesday) that there would be more structure to the other two debates.

  5. I caught the last 20 minutes on the drive home from family birthday celebration. Cheezun Rice. $rump just showed who he is tonight.. lying, vicious, disordered. And that 35% of the evangelical/ cult / Q Anon base will just lap that verbal diarrhea up like it’s a Tastee Freeze. $rump succeeded in rattling Biden by attacking Hunter, interrupting when Biden was supposed to be getting his two minute summary in.

I agree, Wallace ( or whoever the moderator is next time ) needs a mic cut off button. I’ve taught “underprivileged, at risk “  middle school  boys with better manners. The President has forfeited the respect his office normally receives- we shouldn’t give the current occupant respect he hasn’t earned.

Biden was on the defensive way too much in the segment I heard- letting Trump control the narrative, responding to his needling, trying to fact check in real time. Not really a good look for him. Sigh.

    1. I watched the whole debate and Biden did very well.  He told Trump to “shut up”. To “quit yapping” called him a “fool” and a “clown.”. Trump may have fired up his base, his apparent goal. But I watched the post debate analysis on Fox and they agreed Trump’s oafish behavior was a “lost opportunity.”.

when Fox says Trump blew it, Trump blew it.

Trump needed a win.  He didn’t get it.  Biden, the frontrunner, only needed to not lose.  He won.

In the next few days, Biden will go up a couple points in the polls.  That will bring him close to landsde margins, defined as 55/45 or better.

      Trump stinks.

  6. Trump told the proud boys to standby.  But he also warned Biden to be careful because he could be overthrown.  He ridiculously said that in respect to “antifa”.  The main point is that Trump injected a violent overthrow of a Biden Administration.  That has been somehow missed by pundits.

      1. Maybe, just maybe, that'll wake up some of the vacuous Pollyanna dipshits who can't bring themselves to contemplate that the GOP is planning Kristallnacht-style shenanigans for election day.

        1. They've already made their plans for Kristallnacht:

Of all the favorable signs for Trump’s Election Day operations, Clark explained, “first and foremost is the consent decree’s gone.” He was referring to a court order forbidding Republican operatives from using any of a long list of voter-purging and intimidation techniques. !e expiration of that order was a “huge, huge, huge, huge deal,” Clark said.

  7. Didn't watch, but will be reading plenty about it,  I'm sure.  r&r has the solution above. Give each a set time to speak/rebut and shut off their mics the rest of the time. "Debates" in future years should be aired on PBS and NPR only with the League of Women Voters moderating…no cable or network news involved  except to spin the performances each according to their bias afterwards.

    1. Good lord, CDW! Have you ever been to a League of Women Voters debate? They're dreadful.

I think moderators should have control of the mics, but how is the debate commission going to get the trump campaign go along with that?
