  1. Tune of “16 candles” by the Crests

    -0-

    Sixteen scandals

    Each and every day.

    Trumps poisons our nation

    Every possible way.

    *

    DeVos and DeJoy

    Vie for biggest fail

    She dumbs down our children

    He screws up our mail.

    *

    Sixteen scandals

    As the whole world laughs

    The buffoon mishandles

    Every policy he crafts.

    *

    He wrecked our NATO

    Sold out to Putin’s wiles

    He burned our forests

    bowed to McConnell’s bile.

    *

    He killed two hundred thousand

    While just warming up.

    He’ll kill five million others

    If we let him re-up.

    *

He insulted soldiers, women, Blacks and gays.

Thank God we can fire him

    In Forty Eight more days!

  2. WOTD from Josh Marshall at TPM: "Trump’s Far-Right Brain Trust Lines Up Arguments for a Violent Post-Election Crackdown"

The right-wing, from Caputo to Q-anon to Fox News and into establishment Republicans has a morbid fascination with violent language.

But when we are talking about looking back in six months, we should be very aware now that the President’s most aggressive and potentially violent supporters – in interplay with the President himself – are already laying the argumentative groundwork for such an outcome – a series of justifications, an argument that the opposition started it and made it necessary, a series of purportedly legal mechanisms for what amounts to a post-election putsch against the government itself.

I would be remiss if I didn’t note explicitly that a lot of this conversation has strong echoes to predictions and exhortations in the Qanon conspiracy – which is itself increasingly mainstreamed in Republican party politics. Perhaps most importantly we should note how the totally unhinged rants from people like Roger Stone get mainstreamed through other figures into conventional political discourse by intermediate figures and by the President himself. Stone’s is the raw garage band versions; others release the pop-ified mainstream hits. Since very few new highly level appointees now receive Senate confirmation there are lots of Michael Caputo type figures currently serving in the government.

    1. That is pretty cool David.

I have recently noticed that there really aren't a lot of yard signs this time around, Biden or Trump, or even for down ballot races.  I wonder if it's because things are so polarized people feel the sign is going to get torn down and destroyed anyway.

      1. I’m not much for signs. Never have been. I remember being criticized in ’04 for not wanting to put a Kerry sticker on my car, but I just don’t like taking even a minuscule risk for a nebulous reward. I did get swept up in the hope campaign enough to put an Obama sign in my window in ’08, but that’s been pretty much it for me.

      1. If the national Republican party operated in the way Dave's mom conducted herself/legislated it would be a better world.  No finer lady to be found – my only regret is that I never got to vote for her!
