    1. The Democratic governor has been handicapped for dealing with Kenosha by the state legislature controlled by radical far right wing Republicans.

Kenosha police have been utilizing and supporting boogaloo militia thugs, like young Rittenhouse who killed a couple people.

      1. You know that. I know that.  I think this point needs to be pushed  in succinct fashion.

The issue I have is how these facts seem too far down in the weeds for a lot of people.  Also, seeing articles like this, I don't know whether this is anecdotal, or actually points to a trend.

        1. I was glad to see Kamala Harris give a live interview this morning and hitting back. Joe needs to the same.

Democrats win when they have a War Room and a Rapid Response team. We lose when we refuse to dignify lies with a reply. (Think Dukakis in '88.)

            1. After Hitler's takeover, his private Army, the Brownshirts, was absorbed into the wehrmacht.  Trump would probably do something similar, deputizing his boogaloos as local law enforcement.

                  1. OLMGTFY

Another militia group, called the boogaloo, also attended all three nights of protests, according to Justin Mishler, a self-proclaimed member who lives Belvidere, Illinois.

                    .
                    .

Mishler said the Kenosha Guard is not affiliated with boogaloo.

“It sounds like a group that’s probably a day old or less,” he said, adding that neither he nor fellow boogaloo boys know Rittenhouse.

“He’s not one of us,” Mishler said of Rittenhouse.

                1. But the feeling does not seem to be reciprocal. The Portland police have shown favorability to the proud boys and nazis, like having them on their speed dial, and not arresting known and easily recognizable fugitives

Unfortunately, there seems to be a certain amount of infiltration of the police by neo-fascists and fascist sympathizers.

  1. Sixty seven days until Trump's fall

When we vote to oust the maroon.

It can't come too soon, this stinking goon

    Only heeds Vladimir Putin's call.

    1. Michael Steele was interviewed last night and quoted this long, mostly-incoherent response Trump gave in recent interview about his second-term agenda.

The only phrase that matter: "And we have other things on our plate that we want to do."

Steele said that everyone should write that down and remember it when they vote. God only knows what the "other things" are.

  2. Best news item I saw this morning:  USC Dornsife Poll — that is the one in 2016 which “suggested late-breaking support among certain groups that contributed to Donald Trump’s surprise win in the electoral college.”

They’ve started with their 2020 tracking poll, and initial results show:

    • Democratic nominee Joe Biden holds an 11-point lead over President Trump in the national popular vote. [8/17 was Biden 51-41 Trump; today is 52-40]
    • 88% of voters who backed Trump in 2016 support him today, while 92% of Clinton’s 2016 voters support Biden.
    • Biden has an 11 percentage point edge among voters who backed third-party candidates in 2016, and a 20 percentage point edge among those who did not cast a vote four years ago because they were too young, prevented from voting, or just chose not to vote that year.

  3. Dan Rather money quote on Twitter today:

" The Trump re-election strategy seems to be to argue that only Donald Trump can save America from Donald Trump’s America. "

      1. True, but they will still vote for him.

And take a couple of Tylenol for the headache and dizziness as they try to reconcile the un-reconciliable in their twisted minds.

      1. Blowing an election in a bad year is one thing. Having media and activists upset with your campaign because you're not doing much during a pandemic is…quite another thing entirely.

    1. The direct filing in the state supreme court was a ridiculous publicity stunt by the racist right.  Anyone who practices in the state appellate courts regularly would laugh at the decision to file an original proceeding.  Corporon, Neville, and Malkin, oh my.  Now they go to trial court, whether state or federal, where this case should've been originally filed in the first place.  What a joke.  But the racist right never ceases to amaze or amuse.
