(Droll’s diary and poll is attracting a fair amount of attention as a diary, so let’s bring it out front where everybody can join in the fun. – promoted by Voyageur)
Reading the Hancock for mayor post reminded me that posting under my real name could hurt a good cause where I regularly cross paths with two other candidates… and their moms. I have another reason, but would probably out myself if I explained it.
What’s your deal?

“Sir Robin and Froward” to your list?
🙂
I promise to be just like tea bag republicans in denouncing Obamacare for the masses! then once elected, turn 180* and demand my congressional health insurance kick in immediately. (as I am a closet socialist and entitlements are for the wealthy.)
As well as I promise to reject all earmarks… for other states. (a-la Rand Paul)
did I mention I will have a “reality” show dedicated to how Imbecilic I am in nature? how I am not a quitter and grotesquely unqualified to be, much less, run for president?
And I have investors I have to answer to.
I luv ya man! In a non-sexual way, of course!
You’re unstable, angry, and unable to keep it together if you disagree with someone, and that’s why I wouldn’t want you to know what I or my family look like.
Cheers, though.
suggesting that myself and Froward are a threat to you and your family. Then you reinforce that nonsense in your response to me.
I’ve told you before, and I’ll say it again, you try to make it personal, when it isn’t.
Psychologically, that’s dangerous. Have you sought counseling?
I’m concerned.
One of us has been constantly and consistently condescending profane and horrible to the other, even insulting the other’s wife, and generally just unbalanced.
The other is me.
Good luck to you in your dark little world, though, and I’m really glad you don’t know me, which is different for me than how I feel about almost every other poster here.
Keep it together, Crispin. I know it’s hard for you, but you can do it.
From wikipedia (You too can look it up):
I say QED because you’ve proven to a mathematical certainty over my time here that you are completely incapable of giving respect or civility to people that don’t agree with you, and even some that do.
It’s unfortunate, because I really do enjoy reading your comments. You’re obviously very smart, and committed to pacifism (as far as I can tell), and I think you can always learn from someone who’s committed to any ideal.
But you don’t seem to be able to not act in a profane, acidic, and awful manner to someone during a discussion in which you’re not personally insulted yourself.
Because of that, I can’t stand discussing anything with you. Look at what a fool you looked like about the Fred Phelps thing? You and I most certainly would agree about that clown, but you had your blinders on and had to take some faux-soapbox about me looking down on peace protesters.
I’d love to have some sort of truce with you, but I don’t see you being interested in it. Like I said, I do enjoy reading your positions, as much as I totally disagree with them, but it doesn’t mean I have to assault you personally. So, if you want to take a break from just being assholes to each other, I’m in. Otherwise, I’m seriously just not ever going to respond to you again (which I’m sure would just break your heart) for everyone here’s sake.
Cheers.
Truce or no?
What a shame. Good luck to you.
…is if we didn’t try.
No more insults, just substance, from both of us.
Thoughts?
I’ll keep trying tho.
How scary the rest of the world must be to you.
Who wants paparazzi following them?
I am Bill Owens’ love child.
There’s no proof that Bill Owens has a love child with a woman who used to work for him
Armstrong.
and hurt peoples’ feelings. They also take a lot of heat from anonymous sources.
I work for a company that would not approve of my views of unions or card check.
By posting anonymously I can write whatever I want and nobody knows who I am.
Foiled again. Someday I’ll learn your true identity!
Although I do not post anything overly partisan or controversial on sites that are more easily searched like facebook for professional reasons. More and more employers are casting the net wide across the internet trying to dig stuff up on potential employees. I do on Coloradopols becuase it is relatively insular (i.e. most people do not give a shit about the nuts and bolts of politics). My boss is a Republican and he knows I am an active Democrat but we get along just fine. In fact we usually give each other good natured shit about it. When he starts giving me crap about Obama it is pretty easy to turn the tables with the mention of W.
This goes back to Jan 2007 and DailyKos. A candidate from NY (IIRC) was posting diaries and then using other names posting responses supporting herself. She was tossed for KOS.
At that point I, as a candidate for Aurora city Council, made the decision to post using my name because I was going to stand with my statements. As a candidate I am going to state my beliefs and thoughts to my voters and that includes those online.
It also makes it easy to think twice before hitting “send it to the world” key.
Actually I like being able to post the reason I use my real name when posting online.
I would hope more politicians would do the same. Politicians should stand with their words.
Here’s one: because I can.
Here’s another: it seemed… wrong for a sitting governor to blog under
myhisher own name.No one would bet if they knew who I really was.
I like living in Colorado.
how many people here actually do know each other anyway?
It’s a complicated shake.
alcohol? I get that sense…
is that it uses zero hands.
It’s like that part in Eyes Wide Shut with everyone wearing masks.
It’s exactly like that.
I created my anonymous handle because being anonymous seemed to be the thing to do.
Then, my Congressmann, Mayor, a State Senator, -a State Rep. and a councilmember in a neighboring city all came up to me stating that they knew who I was on ColPols, so I guess I should have just posted in my real name.
I think, even though some may know who you are, it gives a certain comfort level to some to post anonymously if they are Federal Employees or elected officials for example.
Several weeks ago CPR/NPR ran a story asking people which superpower they would rather have – flying or invisibility? (I think it was “This American Life,” I keep hearing Ira Glass’s voice.) That led to these great conversations about which one any why. I liked the invisible option.
I post anonymously so I can pretend to be invisible. I am a disembodied voice whispering in people’s ears or proclaiming loudly whatever b.s. I’m into at that moment.
I’d be invisible, too! But not to shout about politics. Get an imagination. 🙂
But now I laugh like an idiot every time I see a dog with no tail.
The only reason I wish I had a deep voice is to do Walken. I can only do the squeaks. 🙁
And if I recall correctly, people who choose invisibility are sneaky (mostly want to spy on naked people or people talking about them) and people who choose flight want to be heroes.
I picked mind-reading. OK, it wasn’t a choice, but it shoulda been.
As I have said a number of times, I am an independent activist and I support the causes and people that I believe in.
Unfortunately, those people and/or causes don’t always get along, so I need to be careful that my real name remains the indy-neutral, fairly unknown moniker that it is, while my personal views are expressed under pseudonyms on sites like this and PolicyStation.
Really, places like this keep me employed. If I didn’t have COPols as an outlet, I might say what I think at work and get fired.
I have no idea how many people pay attention to my drivel, but I post anonymously so that I have full freedom to express my opinions, thoughts, and feelings here. If I offend someone I might know personally or professionally, they’ll have no idea it’s me.
I occasionally date politicians (never a married one!) even if I don’t like their politics. Once on a date, with someone I was on my way to being nearly serious with, the guy was complaining about how mean the people here are.
“This one guy, droll, wrote the meanest thing today.”
I would’ve said it to his face, but didn’t want to pay for dinner.
Ultimately I broke it off because I can’t date someone so sensitive. Oh, the tears.
You just identified yourself as being of the female persuasion. I hope you’re not sensitive about letting your gender be known as some of our polsters — c.f. dwyer — are. 😉
A gay man, surely, would have offered to split the check.
And you’re probably right. I’m not a gay man, but a female ladyist. All may know.
And make him pay for the session.
I occasionally date politicians who are not men.
having your gender outed;-)
🙂 Speaking of which, sorry you’re in DC this weekend (and nearly every other now). Hope it’s working out though!
Many people, groups and firms are lawyering up right now. Because the incoming Republican majority have stated they will hold hearings on important problems, such as the hoax of global warming (and possibly the birthers get one too), law firms are staffing up for the influx of clients normally not seen in front of Congressional hearings.
So, I may have to join the ex-pats of Colorado club for a year. But, I am planning on coming back for a few days next month.
voting?
I liked “dark secret.”
I was a state employee working for an elected official of a different party in a non-civil-service position that had some visibility in state government. It seemed prudent at the time to remain anonymous.
Now I’m retired, so I suppose I could stop hiding and post under my real name. I still do the occasional contract job, but nothing political, so there probably wouldn’t be any blowback. However, if I re-registered under my real name, you all would deride me as being a noob and (sob, sniff) I just couldn’t handle that.
I’m sure we can meet sometime.
It’s not the one I check every day, but it is one I check occasionally. If you ever want to grab a cup of coffee (pref in Denver or northwards), shoot me an email and give me a week or so lead time (or let me know here that you’ve sent me an email).
from lefty liberal socialists bent on raping, pillaging and destruction.
Welcome back.
I’m always here, mostly lurking.
Like a bad case of herpes.
It was election time and that means I take a back seat to the sockpuppets, shills and trolls (still not quite sure what the difference are).
But now I’m back, from outer space.
It seemed to me like most posters were using anonymous handles so when I registered I came up with one as well.
I have no real need for one but absolutely prefer to remain anonymous to anyone outside of our little community.
So I spell it the french way, voyageur, here to keep my plausible denability.
I really don’t need people looking me up and finding ANY of my online presence. Period.
and way back when I was a loyal public servant I not only had to deal with them, I had to treat them as if they were not batshit crazy. Now I don’t have to do either, and I don’t want those types contacting me.
I like to call bullshit, because there is plenty out there, but I also like my privacy.
🙂
that still won’t happen.
Actually, I have a pretty good idea who she is, but ain’t saying, for the above mentioned reason.
9mm?
or a 38 police special snub?
or my favorite for making holes in paper: M16A1?
if people knew how reasonable and liberal my online persona is, I might never have been elected county commissioner in Mesa County.
A big shout out to my peeps, including my good buddy the DA. And of course to my bff DNR Exec Director Mike King, who is always there with a dry hankie when I need to vent. God is my witness. At least that’s the way I remember it. I’m sorry if you are offended by the vagaries of my memory.
once removed, anyway.
Don’t confuse the two.
which is what I meant by “once removed.”
But I do know and like the son who, among other things, I found to be quite knowledgable on water issues. Of course his brother is a hydrologist.
to really know what kind of an asshole I can be in private
a Bronco fan, your username gives us a clue about that. 🙂
59-14 is a real bitch isn’t it….
Denver Broncos… Still Suck!
The Colorado State Police are cracking down on speeders heading into Denver .
For the first offense, they give you 2 Denver Bronco tickets.
If you get stopped a second time, they make you use them.
Q. What do you call 47 millionaires around a TV watching the Super Bowl?

Q. What do the Denver Broncos and Billy Graham have in common?
A. They both can make 70,000 people stand up and yell “Jesus Christ”.
Q. How do you keep a Denver Bronco out of your yard?
A. Put up a goal post.
Q. What do you call a Denver Bronco with a Super Bowl ring?
A. Old
Q. What’s the difference between the Denver Broncos and a dollar bill?
A. You can still get four quarters out of a dollar bill.
Q. How many Denver Broncos does it take to win a Super Bowl?
A. Nobody remembers.
Q. What do the Denver Broncos and a possums have in common?
A. Both play dead at home and get killed on the road!
Who knows what the future may hold and who would want to try and explain out of context quotes from the past.
That is why I have carefully chosen this anonymous sounding name to use. The others are hard to pronounce.
Anyone who knows me in real life knows who I am from my username here. Anyone who doesn’t know me in real life probably wouldn’t get any greater benefit from my posts if they were attached to my real name.
And I don’t really want a bunch of Ken Buck limericks ending up as the first google result for my real name 🙂
Who…Oh, forget about it.
Though he’s still pretty much a joke. Maybe I should stick with the limericks.
Quite a few of you actually know me, or have heard of me, in real life. Posting anonymously helps me remain anonymous when I feeli like being an asshole, or uncharacteristically opinionated, or want to dare saying something really stupid.
Or when I fat finger the keyboard.
Is that part of the new TSA security procedures?
that I am able to post unanimously.
I volunteer in my small way for various campaigns and causes and I like to feel free to express myself here without reflecting on anyone else or causing anyone else a problem. I can do that as Bluecat. I’m also a pretty polite, well behaved person at this stage of life: BlueCat, not sdo much. I do write letters to the editor under my own name so it’s not that I have a problem with people knowing what I think.
It was a response to mouth breathers calling me at home after a letter was published to the Post. Or, whatever it is.
Not that I ever had much to hide. And I’m now 2000 miles away, so any knee capping will have to be done via the underground.
Love the responses above!
a quick click on your link reveals that you did that 3 1/2 years ago. But who’s counting… 🙂
Fish, not hair.
just like the Beej used to
In the witness protection program they change everything about you.
Seriously the job consequences are terrible if you are a well known person.
Because i am open about who i am i feel like i can say what i mean. Under a fake name, i would be really nasty…
Posting who i am keeps me honest. I think this website and poitical conversations deserve that. I also feel like my background offers real life reasons why i feel like i do.
I am also fortunate that i can not be fired for my views or use of the word “fuck”. Although my political friends have told me that i stand no chance of ever getting elected to public office. If ever I run for office, my WLJ page will be my platform…and Cannabis legalization! LOL
and I can tell people to shut the fuck up and call them names and stuff.
Now that I think of it, however, I don’t really tell people on Pols to shut the fuck up and the only one I’ve ever called any names is the Beej. I’m pretty sure I’d have no qualms about calling Beej names to his face.
And not nearly so snarky in real life.
I appreciate you and your colleagues, DaftPunk.
connections or insight (like I actually needed to type that) and I wouldn’t want my occasional stupid comment here to reflect negatively on me in the real world where I don’t have any connections or insight.
Whatever.
what are you really trying to say here?
Sometimes an extra beer or two helps the comprehension of complex thought appear brilliant – kind of like the beer goggle effect.
Beeeeer!!!!
to hit the 100 mark on her first front-paged diary. Come on and help her over the top!
Mostly because of teh Google. I don’t want every time I called someone a douche to be forever entwined to my real name on the interwebs.
If I ever get a normal life back, all those douchenozzles may come back to haunt me. Wait…that didn’t come out right.
I really am Cordelia Chase, and if you don’t believe me I will drive a stake through your heart!
