    1. You mean, APD detaining a black family of four “mistaking” them as being in a stolen car?

Or still, after a week, no charges filed against the driver of a Jeep who drove through BLM protesters on 225? They charged the protester who fired shots at the Jeep(wounding two other protesters), but their “investigation” has not included any blame to the officers who let the Jeep through the barricade to drive at the protesters.
The driver is already lying, claiming protesters surrounded his vehicle and threatened him, although the video clearly shows the Jeep accelerating unimpeded while panicked protesters scattered.

The passenger in that Jeep posted a video defense. “Sorry/not sorry”…..

Or officers “joking around” and acting out the choking of Elijah McClain? APD clearly has a culture that doesn’t respect black lives or protesters lives in general. Hiring a new police chief, Vanessa Wilson, can only clean up that cesspool so far.

Expect more Black Lives Matter protests in Aurora and in Jeffco on S Wadsworth, today. I’ll be there.

      1. There is no doubt that the gunman meant to kill.  But the video does not show the driver trying to hit anyone — unlike the Denver case, where the car clearly swerved to hit protesters.  With protesters throwing things at the car and a crazed gunman firing at the car, the driver did the sensible thing and fled from the violent protest.  Or are you suggesting that was nonviolent gunfire?

        1. The video that I’ve seen shows the blue jeep already clear of the protestors and protestors scattering to avoid being hit. If I had been there as a protestor, I would also have thrown things at that jeep. After all, another guy damaged his truck trying to keep the jeep driver from running people down.

The protestor gunman has been charged with attempted murder. Time to charge the jeep driver. Or is it that the APD charges only protestors with crimes?

As for the black family being detained by APD; and little kids being handcuffed and forced to lay face down on the ground, my first thought was “who hired these moron cops?”

I’ve lived 25 years in Lakewood and can’t recall behavior like this coming from Lakewood cops. But then Lakewood requires a college degree to become a police officer.

          1. Like the flightless bird, chb, you need to watch more episodes of “Law and Order.”  The police do not “charge”people with crimes.  They only investigate.  Prosecutors make the decision about whether to prosecute and for what.  So far, I’ve seen nothing to indicate that the Jeep driver tried to kill anyone, as the protestor tied to do.

There are lots of Law and Order reruns cable if you want to pursue this police/prosecutor distinction.   But don’t tell the flightless bird.  There’s no telling her anything when she has her hate up.

            1. But in the birdie's defense, V, she might have picked up her misunderstanding by watching teevee “news,'' where references to police charging people are abundant.

              1. @VG: yes, I know the difference between what prosecutors do and police do.

As for Law and Order, and similar shows, have watched only a single one. Years ago, I watched one about a guy who fell out of a plane, or something like that. How they handled altitude & freezing wasn’t just unrealistic, it was totally wrong. Never watched again.

  1. A comet, Neowise C/ 2020F3, will make its closest approach to Earth this week. It should be visible in the northern hemisphere if you live away from city lights.
Find the Big Dipper and look under the “pot” when it is close to the horizon to see it.

    1. I saw it a week ago between mostly clouds. Facing the big dipper toward the Northwest in the evening, it is to the left and down a little.

It isn't super-visible to the naked eye. The tail is kind of dime, and the center is a dot, but a blurry dot. If you have binoculars, then you can easily see the blurry dot and a nice, spreading tail.

      1. I am beginning to speculate that Trump is absolutely, positively going to keep Biden from becoming President #46.

If Trump wins the election, he will gleefully continue as #45, gloating how he won despite all the fake news, the fake polls, and the fake voting.  If not, he will go on a pardoning spree, then experience a “medical event” to justify his resignation, and PENCE will be #46. [and able to provide a Presidential pardon to former *resident Trump].

        1. John: I don’t think that’s how it works. Pence could succeed Trump as #46, temporarily. But the terms of office of both Trump and Pence end on January 20, 2021.

And I would not place any sort of bet on Pence providing Trump with a pardon. Even if Pence did pardon Trump for whatever, said pardon won’t save Trump from the New York State AG or the Manhattan DA. No matter how it shakes out, Trump is screwed if he doesn’t win re-election.

          1. Pence would be #46.  Biden would be #47.  No matter how short or how long the term, the count always rises.

And Pence has gotten in the habit of doing whatever Trump tells him to do.  So if he is expected to provide a pardon, my guess is he would do it — especially if any of the major funders (Mercers, Adelsons, Ueline & Uline Inc , DeVos & Amway, Geoffrey Palmer, Joe Ricketts) said it should be done.

        2. he will go on a pardoning spree

          Especially for people with money.
Then, I expect him to pardon the worst to solidify apres moi, le deluge.
Fat Donnie™ loves the limelight, but not the prison lightbulb, So I think there is a probability that he will flee the country. Andorra does not have an extradition treaty with the USA.

            1. The 5th Amendment exception would only apply to events where there is no further criminal jeopardy.  If there were some possibilities (e.g., state prosecutions, federal related crimes, perjury), they can still claim the 5th.

And even not claiming the 5th, if they stay silent, the worst that can happen to them is an effort to enforce a contempt charge.

      2. You stink at math, barnes.  91 – 1 is 90.

Days until the election, after which stinky boy starts running around like a chicken with its head cut off.

  2. There are actually 169 days for him to appall. I expect him to get worse between the election and the inauguration at which he will not be the guest of honor.

        1. Michael…I had forgotten you are a fellow Leo. Happy, Happy, my friend. I think I will drink a beer in your honor tonight…then you can join me on Saturday in celebrating another milestone (69) in the long, strange, trip it’s been.

I hope you are weathering this pestilence and its travails with your customary grace and resilience. I find so much in this moment from which to learn. Humans can be so good. You are one of the best.

          Happy birthday, old dude!!🎉🎂😀

          1. Thanks, Duke!! I saved a bottle of the original run of New Belgium’s Hemperor beer and celebrated with one in hand last night! All is well; after a decade-and-a-half of living in an airplane half-time having a routine has been good for my health (especially for my Lymes).  Zoom has been a godsend and since everyone is in the same boat it’s made things easy.  Crops look good and we’re cranking out some of the best organically-certified oil in the industry right now (our facility is in Center).  There is a really exciting fiber project underway there, too, that Gov Polis’ team was instrumental in getting placed there.  Lots to be thankful for – and excited about, including your friendship and my sixth grandchild who is about four weeks away.  I promise we’re going to sit on your porch one of these days and have a great catch-up!

I saw this yesterday and couldn’t resist- it captures the essence of the full-spectrum on MAGA intellect (if that isn’t a contradiction of terms!)

      1. My old babysitter, Marie, turned 103 officially this year. She still bakes cookies and keeps her own house, still sharp as hell, one of the few Democrats in Keenesburg. However, she was 39+++++ for years- every year, she tacked on another plus.

        Works for me!

        1. My sister turned -5 today.  She started counting backwards after 39 😉

Happy Birthday to you Michael — what a great group — Barack too!

      2. Happy days … As I recall,  Benny celebrated a number of 39s, so you can no doubt do the same with 40.

One of my high school friends figured out his reason for letting the count rise … a cupcake or slice of cake for the same number of days as his birthday.

    1. By polling, NONE of those being mentioned "help the ticket."  Biden & XX win by 6 or 7 points over Trump & Pence, no matter which name fits into the XX.
