After Cory Gardner promised that unemployment benefits would be extended, today hundreds of thousands of Coloradans still don’t know how they’re going to make ends meet.

In Washington, Sen. Cory Gardner and Republicans in Washington can’t even agree among themselves on what to offer Democrats, let alone make a deal extending unemployment benefits that 330,000 in Colorado and millions nationwide are relying on.

Coloradans who need help are running out of time. According to a new report from the Center for Budget and Policy Priorities, [1] 336,000 Coloradans have reported that they don’t have enough to eat. 251,000 Coloradans say children in their household don’t have enough to eat. And an estimated 135,000 Coloradans did not pay last month’s rent on time or deferred payment.

We have to get the message to Cory Gardner that Coloradans are going to suffer while he and Mitch McConnell play politics. Take another minute today, whether it’s your first call or your hundredth, and call Cory Gardner’s office right now at 855-945-2679 and urge him to support full extension of the enhanced unemployment benefit through the end of the year.

To everyone who is suffering economically as the war against the COVID-19 pandemic goes on, we hear you and support you in this difficult time. We all want to get through this safely, and with security for our families and communities. The only way that will happen is if we continue to support Americans economically for as long as it takes to beat the coronavirus. No one should have to choose between putting themselves at risk and putting food on the table.

Thanks for everything that you do week after week to hold leaders like Cory Gardner accountable and demand better. Here are more ways to make a difference for the week of August 3:
