Who Will Be Joe Biden's Running Mate?

  • by: Colorado Pols
Sen. Kamala Harris

Democrat Joe Biden has pledged to select a running mate by the end of the month. Who will it be? When last we asked this question in late April, Colorado Pols readers were thinking California Sen. Kamala Harris was the frontrunner.

Has that thinking changed in the last two months? Vote below and tell us what you think. Professional oddsmakers seem to think Harris and former National Security Adviser Susan Rice are the two favorites at the moment.

As always, we want to know what you think will happen here — not what you want to happen or who you personally might support. If you had to place a bet — right now — on who will be selected to be Biden’s running mate, where would you put your money?

*Note: Biden has already promised to choose a woman as the Democratic Vice Presidential nominee.

  1. I went with “someone else” … lots of well qualified people on the list, and it certainly COULD be one of them.  But my version is that whoever Joe & Jill Biden select from the process they’ve established, will be

    Ms./Rep./Sen./Gov./Mayor/the Honorable/Dr./Gen./Prof. RIGHT.

    plus, I’m indecisive today.

      1. She’s a natural-born U.S. Citizen and 35.  She’s qualified.  And she’s better than trump.  And she’d be better than a lot of the halfwits that have inhabited that office.

        1. Dan Quayle, Spiro Agnew, Mike Pence, Dick Cheney …. and that's just in the last 50 years.

Yes, she would be better than a lot of the halfwits who have inhabited that office.

        2. So you think that being black, female, and needing a job qualifies you to be president?

I think a record is great.

          My recommendations:

          Val Demings

          Susan Rice

          Kamala Harris

          Gretchen Witmer

          Tammy Duckworth.

Anyone else not named Stacy Abrams.

  2. The most qualified person on that list is probably Susan Rice but she is not a pol.

My prediction:  Kamala Harris ends up being VEEP and Susan Rice will be Biden's Sec of State.

  3. Duckworth is the betting man’s choice here. Trump’s machine is mobilizing against Duckworth just like it did with Biden because she’s their biggest threat. The only thing that keeps her off the ticket is the vetting process (or her unwillingness, obviously).

  4. I agree with Mike W .  Tammy Duckworth is the most likely candidate on this list. She has experience in the federal government, experience campaigning and a resum`e to put the current WH occupant to shame.  This assumes she has no skeletons in the closet, of course.

My personal choice would be Susan Rice, but she lacks campaign experience and Benghazi! would rise from the dead.  I hope she's SoS at least.

  5. The best VP candidate will be the one with least name recognition and least baggage.

Announced late, campaigns little, has a track record somewhere,  and doesn't inflame.
From this list – Val Demings

If your reaction was who? she is perfect.

    1. If not perfect, Demings is damn good.  A former police chief, she assures moderates that the “Abolish the police” crazies will be kept chained in the basement.  And she helps win Florida — where a biden victory would almost certainly seal stinky boy’s doom.  In the end, hardly anybody votes for the veep, but historically a veep can add 2 or 3 points in his/her home state.
