I was in Douglas county uesterday when the governor announced bars are closing again – and the people’s reaction was less than cooperative
CO-3 is only a +5 GOP district. It's conservative but not overwhelmingly so. COVID has definitely taken a big bite out of those important tourist dollars so they know that if the virus gets out of control, it'll only get worse. Polis has thread the needle very well by keeping the economy as open as possible but still keeping things safe. I as in Durango two weekends ago and Main Street was busy with mask-covered folks properly socially distancing. They know that the only way to go forward is to keep the virus under control in Colorado.
I wish, vertigo. Mesa, Montrose, Delta, Rio Blanco and Moffat counties have shown for years that they'll vote against their self interest in favor of wingnut ideology every time.
Mitsch Bush should set up campaign camp in Pueblo with forays to Durango, Gunnison and the ski towns.
She'll need to show a little aggression to jump on the Calamity Jane shitshow when it has its inevitable trumpian moments.
On the bright side, the reptilian state Sen. Ray Scott was thrashed in the primary for Mesa County commissioner. There goes the $95,000 salary the reptile was counting on. The guy who beat him turn out to be nuts but at least it's a fresh face.

I had some good interactions with Rep. Mitsch-Busch when she was in the legislature. She’s a common sense Dem and not a “far out fire eater.” She’ll make a much better Congress person than “pistol packin’ mama.”
And, yes, it was good to see Justin Everett losing in HD 22 and Ms. Marble also losing. I had thought Ken Witt might try a comeback in that district; at least I think he lives there, but it didn’t happen. But, better Larsen than Everett.

Whoa..CO-3 is going to be super competitive. Mitsch-Bush already gave Tipton his most competitive race in 2018. I think she can really do well agains Boebert. She already has tons of name recognition and money. And honestly her agriculture/environmentalism nexus is a really good fit for a lot of the district. She'll definitely get all the tourist towns and I suspect many of the agricultural regions. I guess Boebert has the oil-gas, tea party, gun-nut types, which there are probably a lot of those, but I don't think as many as we think.
The psycho gun nuts types are few but loud. They helped swing this low turnout primary. But in the general election they are an anchor pulling their favorites into quicksand.
Looking at the election results, Boebert's home county of Garfield was surprisingly competitive. She only won by 89 votes. It's almost like the people who know her best are like…no thanks. Mitsch-Bush overwhelmingly won her home county of Routt…people who know her actually like her. That says a lot right there.
