A small piece of good news:
Judge ruled that all children held in ICE detention centers for more than 20 days must be released by July 7.
Thank Goddess for an independent judiciary, capable of human compassion. Families should be released, as well, rather than trying to find fosters for these traumatized kids.
Judge Gee is correct.
But they still won't do it until we have a new administration.
Carlyle is correct. I recall winning a judgement in court years ago, only to learn that was the easy part. The court will not help you get the money. It does not compel a change in conduct by the loser. That is a separate task. Left to you.
Sure it will. I mean, if the debtor is truly just a judgment-proof lowlife with no income or assets, the creditor is screwed. Otherwise, the court will make the debtor answer questions and produce documentation regarding income and assets. The court will issue writs of garnishment to the debtor's employer and financial institutions where the debtor has accounts. The court will send the sheriff out to collect the debtor's non-exempt property and sell it. If the debtor has real estate, filing a transcript of judgment in the office of the clerk and recorder for the county where the property is located creates a lien on the property (and any other property the debtor acquires in that county while the lien is alive). You can wait for the property to sell or, if the numbers work out, foreclose. If the debtor transferred property to avoid his debt to you (whether before or after judgment was entered), the court will set aside the transfer.
or a judgement-proof lowlife with income and plenty of hidden/protected assets…all protected by titles and the applicable rules. The info you have is correct, but it isn’t simple, by any means.
The sort of legwork and costs associated with getting the money is only justifiable if it is lots of money. Additionally, writs of garnishment are useless against the self employed. All in all, I found the system doesn’t work well unless you have lawyers and administrative staff. Hard to pursue when you are trying to keep your own business afloat.
Very much true. There are lawyers out there who do nothing but hunt down judgment debtors' assets. Like most areas of legal practice, one can't just dabble in that sort of work and be any good at it.
The story of a gathering storm …
Guardian Outrage mounts over report Russia offered bounties to Afghanistan militants for killing US soldiers
Apparently, there are independent sources for stories in the NY Times & Wa Post, with slight variance in the accounts. If true, there will be another bloc of voters alienated from Trump.
Look for this to explode in about a week.
I can't imagine George Conway ignoring this.
I wonder if Erik Prince collected when he killed US soldiers
Not an idle question. Just as Trump has no loyalty to our country, many of the Trumpies don't either. Their loyalty is to themselves and their wealth. There are no country boundaries for these folks, only cross-boundary ways to build wealth (through corruption) and enjoy pleasure (cf. Jeffrey Epstein).
Lincoln Project's latest video on Russia's bounty to Taliban fighters for killing American soldiers:
And the hashtag #TRE45on" is trending on Twitter.
Good line seen on Yahoo a while ago; obviously sarcastic; about the bounty: "Much ado about nothing. Tune in Monday to Rush Limbaugh, Mark Levin, Tucker Carlson, Sean Hannity, and Laura Ingraham. They'll tell you what you should believe."
that sux
Can Biden commit to getting US forces out of Afghanistan where there is no mission?
And recommit to NATO where the mission is clear.
Anyone not remember how the first movie ended???? . . .
Spoiler Alert: It was Hunter Biden. Again.
Herd immunity.
The infectious diseases for which humans have accomplished this without vaccine is a small list.
There is no conclusive data that corona virus will give us herd immunity. Coronoa viruses in general do not – that is some immunity for a short time and then humans can get reinfected. Think colds. Flu.
Malaria, dengue – limited to no sustained immunity.
Ebola, HIV, Marburg, plague and more: no developed immunity.
Ebola, and especially Marburg are so deadly that infected hosts don't generally have much mobility. So far – we've been lucky. One Marburg host at any major international airport will kill tens of thousands.
Until we have data, or treatment – C19 should be treated similarly.
But if we don't test – there will be no new cases and therefore no reason to impact the economy. And if it turns out that exposure results in sustained immunity – think shingles or chicken pox (same virus, different dieases)- large numbers of exposure will be good for the survivors. Less good for the fatalities.
C19 survivors are sometimes pretty damaged.
And we have no treatment.
Vaccine would be good. Coronaviruses in general have been difficult to vaccinate for.
It should not be a partisan thing. But neither should saving Social Security or expanding access to medical services.
Pence doesn't appear to be interested in this herd immunity to speak about:
Pence cancels trips to Arizona, Florida due to concerns over a spike in coronavirus cases

Bill Barr is even worse than you think: His entire job is to protect Donald Trump
Barr is the latest in a long line of bootlicking right-wing water carriers: Rich white men tell him what to do
This is worth reading. It goes into detail about the story of John J. McCloy. Barr is just a well paid stooge. Always has been.

thank you
it's gonna be great, really great.
For the first time in 10 years, fireworks — when there was a forest fire about 6 miles away a couple of days ago.
A military jet fly-over. [I'm sorta surprised *resident Trump didn't insist on military vehicles.]
A 2 lane road providing access. 7,500 tickets. Who knows what other looky loos will want to try to drop in.
and now, Native Americans protesting Trump trip to Mount Rushmore
Pols, there are 4 spam posts from “lacymcalexander”.
Back in 2016, then-candidate Trump's reaction to the news that the Clinton email investigation was on again appeared on page 1 of the
New YorkVichy Times. Biden's reaction to news that Russia offered bounties for dead Americans in Afghanistan appeared on page A16 of the Vichy Times. Let the ratfucking begin!
