More from the “unintended consequences” department:
We’d say Ken Buck got out of the way of this train wreck in the nick of time, wouldn’t you? Has Cory Gardner ditched Amendment 62 yet? Was it a good idea for every Colorado GOP gubernatorial and Senate candidate, and lots more downticket, to have at some point endorsed this amendment–which went down by over 70% in 2008 for, see above, manifestly good reasons?
What a cute mom and baby. No it wasn’t.

This has been up since 9 a.m. and not one right-wing Amend. 62 apologist has jumped in to say how God-awful it is that this woman and her husband have a beautiful, wanted child.
Or that the child is cursed, God didn’t want her to be born, this couple is in league with Satan. Or some such convoluted “personhood” idiocy.

We need all Pro-Life lovers to weigh in on what an outrage it was to keep one fertilized egg and murder the other. My God how can this woman face each day knowing she murdered a perfectly good fertilized egg to selfishly have an only child. Couldn’t they have implanted both eggs so she didn’t have to decide which beautiful soul was going to have to die. If you have read this far then you know what a total heaping crock of crap the “we need sneaky amendments to criminalize womens health care” argument really is.
On the real issues the tin men from the Republican Party are no shows.
Let me chime in by saying that the unintended consequences such as are highlighted in this video are why I oppose 62. I have other concerns about how it will play out as well.
Bottom line for me, it’s bad law and only crazed crusaders that are blinded by their cause are actually in support of the amendment. Declaring an embryo a “person” at the moment of conception creates additional criminals of women when they are not aware of their pregnancy because being unaware of the “person” inside them is not a defense against a litany of charges that could be brought up including child abuse, negligence and even manslaughter if the woman enages in activity that causes a miscarriage.
I can’t get behind the amendment because, despite supporting life, it’s much too far reaching.
