So Much Winning

[mantra-pullquote align=”center” textalign=”left” width=”90%”]“I think that we’ve achieved all of the different milestones that are needed…the federal government rose to the challenge, and this is a great success story, and I think that’s really what needs to be told.”

— First son-in-law Jared Kushner today on Fox News[/mantra-pullquote]

  1. Hmmmm.  So much success that he's threatening to sue his campaign manager for his recent dip in the polls? #cracksinthearmor

Trump erupts at campaign manager as reelection stress overflows

Within moments, the President was shouting — not at the aides in the room, but into the phone — at his campaign manager Brad Parscale, three people familiar with the matter told CNN. Shifting the blame away from himself, Trump berated Parscale for a recent spate of damaging poll numbers, even at one point threatening to sue Parscale.

      1. Agree. His physical and/or mental health may just bring him down before November. He knows that he has all the power now, but will lose all the power with a defeat on Election Day. And he knows what defeat will bring – accountability through the courts. Why does the story of "A Christmas Carol" keep coming to mind? Perhaps the only difference is that Trump will never awaken a changed man. He's incapable.

        1. @Realist: Yep. If Trump loses in November, he likely has "dates" with the NY State AG and the Manhattan DA. And, who knows, with Trump's usefulness over, Putin may send his agents………….

        2. I’ve noticed that $rump can’t get through a medium sentence without pausing to breathe. He is obese and wears a “girdle” to contain his belly, so that could explain the shortness of breath. But it’s also a symptom of coronavirus.

He and Pence, probably all of his inner circle, get tested weekly for covid19, according to the New York Times.

For literary references, I’d look to Faust or the Picture of Dorian Gray- stories of men who made deals with the devil, tried to outsmart Old Scratch, but paid with their lives and souls. Putin would be $rump’s devil, and $rump himself would play Lucifer for “Cory-an Gray”.

            1. So would sitting on his fat ass all day bingeing on Big Macs and buckets of KFC, and watching FOX news nonstop as his only physical activity . . .

. . . Occam’s diet and exercise plan. The results are guaranteed.

            2. Weight and sleep apnea are a vicious circle. I dropped 20 pounds in two weeks after my doctor prescribed a CPAP, and so did my wife after she got one.

          1. More literary references: "The Devil and Daniel Webster," by Stephen Vincent Benet. And "The Devil and Tom Walker," by Washington Irving.

The Benet short story was a reading assignment in high school. Hadn't thought of it in years.

            1. I believe that is where I learned that the Devil can challenge even a New Hampshire man…but he is no match for TWO men from New Hampshire.

unless I am thinking of a different book.
