  1. Sanders is winning in Ireland:

Bernie Sanders topping poll in Ireland among Democrats Abroad – initial votes of in-person voting today in Dublin:

    Sanders 47%
    Warren 34%
    Biden 18%
    Bloomberg 1%

  2. I have seen a couple of stories touting Bidens' reconstructing his campaign.

    Poppycock…

The resurgent Biden campaign can thank one man…Jim Clyburn.

      1. The title of this may be a little melodramatic but Noonan has captured the essence of Jim Clyburn as a person – and as the de facto leader of African-Americans.

        Jim Clyburn Saves the Democrats

He’d wrestled with whether to make a public endorsement. Then a friend died. He arrived early to the funeral and walked around talking to people he hadn’t seen in a while. “There was an elderly lady in her upper 80s sitting on the front pew of the church, just a few seats away from the coffin. And she looked at me and she beckoned to me. Didn’t say a word, just beckoned.” He joined her. “She said, ‘Lean down, I need to ask you a question.’ And I leaned down. She said, ‘You don’t have to say it out loud, but you just whisper into my ear. Who are you gonna vote for next Saturday? I been waiting to hear from you. I need to hear from you. This community wants to hear from you.’ I decided then and there that I would not stay silent.”

    1. Anything that agitates Kevin “I swear Trump and Roherbacher are on Putin’s payroll” McCarthy is a good thing.  He can’t stand the challenge to his manhood that he’s being out-maneuvered by a grandma.  Didn’t his der Leader say just last week that Coveffee COVID19 wasn’t really a ‘thing’;  that a miracle would occur soon and it would disappear?

It’s almost like he’s panicked over something.  Thoughts and prayers, minority leader.

      1. Has anyone missed the irony that the Sadministration is now yacking about how the COVID19 vaccination will be free under a provision embedded in the ACA – while they are simultaneously headed to the Supreme Court to kill ACA?

  3. Big, Big, Big night for Biden. He is replicating the 2018 demographics that picked up 40 House seats.  Blacks and suburban voters, perhaps in record turnouts.  The moderate and left leaning Dems.  All but the left fringe of the party.  His “revolution” has sputtered.  Bloomberg will recognize it’s time to drop out and throw his resources- money, talented staff and whatever delegates he earns- to Biden.
The country has been quite literally saved tonight because Biden, and not Sanders, will beat Trump.  There must be a space in Statuary Hall for Jim Clyburn.

      1. I can't argue that, Michael. But I think he should have stayed out of it. I know that would never happen, but hey.

        I will caution Uncle Joes'camp.

Add up the totals of Bernie and Warren. The "Enthusiasm candidate" is running on the black vote (thank you congressman)enthusiasm of Klobuchar and Buttigieg and the blanket fear born of ignorance about the realities of politics and the incredible ignorance feeding the fear of "socialism".

This limited success marks a victory for the corporate funded, established wing of the party. This is a retreat, not an advance.

        1. Beating Fascism is survival, Duke.   Our precious liberties are at stake as is our national honor.

Never Trump!  Never again the narcissist.

          1. When did I ever suggest otherwise V.?

Your conviction that only Biden can beat T***p sounds a lot like the "only Hick can beat Gardner" trope. Not supportable.

His occasional rhetoric notwithstanding, Uncle Joe is unlikely to take on the Lords of Wall Street and the Titans of Industry. He will not challenge the business/industrial complex he represents. Time will tell.

I will vote for him, if it comes to that. I hope he is not the nominee. Trump will devour him.

            1. Actually, in the end, Duke, my first choice was Amy.  I voted for Warren, my second choice, because I thought she could qualify — and she did.

Why did we ignore womanpower in this campaign.  Hillary beat stinky boy by three million votes, it's just a matter of putting that plurality in the right places.

Could Bernie have won?  WEll, he didn't, losing to a Biden campaign that just three days earlier looked like the shade of Ethelred the unready.

It is an absolute must to add a woman to the ticket.  Harris or Amy.

              Never again the Stink!

              Never again Trump!

        2. I have a lot of empathy for the argument Duke (my comment was more of a general comment on his life).  Bottom line I’m like you:  #BlueNoMatterWho.  I have to say that being lectured by Robby Mook just now on TV regarding how to win this race in 2020 is a little more than I want to absorb this evening.

          1. I didn't misunderstand you and actually have a very high regard for congressman Clyburn.

I am saddened that Hillary Clintons' Democratic party seems to have prevailed by propping up a candidate who got his butt kicked on the debate stage, did not inspire voters (still doesn't, in my case), and in my estimation will falter against the Orange Destruction.

As you know, there is a quote about Republicans choosing a real Republican over a Democrat who pretends to be a Republican.

I am growing more and more disgusted with centrist Democrats who slam the mythical " Bernie Bros" about intransigence in accepting anyone but Bernie. They are no different. The cries of "socialist" from Biden supporters is as disingenuous as anything the T***p orcs can disengorge.

C'mon guys…Which one of my corporatist colleagues here will tell how inspired and excited about Joe Biden they are? Tell me how the T***p machine will not eat Ukraine Joe alive.

            1. I have similar amounts of trepidation for both candidates – for different reasons.  That said I’ll work with equal fervor for the ultimate nominee; it will be an all-hands-on-deck moment for the nation.

Bernie has clearly hit a vein with the Latino community and people 30-under. This demographic has spent at least half their life governed by presidents who didn’t win the popular vote, they’ve watched endless wars, watched a market collapse that destroyed their parents home equity and retirement funds. They live with crushing college debt.  Now we need to figure out how to get them off of social media and to the ballot box.

For now the African-American community did their work and we are bearing that fruit today. I am a real admirer of Clyburn and he is clearly the voice for the African American community.  If I ever get over the divide to share a brew or two with you I have a few great stories on the Congressman to share with you!

    1. I’ll vote for him if he is the nominee, but Biden is not going to win against Hair Furor. He’s Clinton Episode II: The Attack of Less Charisma.

      1. At least Biden wouldn't generate anywhere near the amount of visceral hatred Clinton did. Is that + Trump revulsion enough? Maybe, but not if ol' Joe keeps creating the impression that he belongs in a dementia care unit.

        1. I know- I am not looking forward to G O T V for young and new or inactive voters with Biden and Hickenlooper heading up the ticket. Ho hum…

          Yes, MADCO, I know…..ABT…..

          1. Sorry read your lack of enthusiasm towards beating Trump and Gardner.  If it is any comfort to you, Hickenlooper has won two statewide elections for the highest position in Colorado government and two elections for mayor in one of the most liberal cities in Colorado so he has the name recognition, resume and resources to beat the Trump toady Gardner.  By comparison, the “purest progressive” in the primary, Andrew Romanoff, hasn’t won an election outside of his reliably blue House district.  He is also broke campaignwise and all anyone remembers about him is he runs a lot and never wins.  I like Dem chances with Biden and Hickenlooper a lot better than Sanders and Romanoff.  My bet is that Hickenlooper will beat Gardner by about the same margin as that rich, self-funding SOB did against Walker in 2018.

            1. What a load of crap, GG.

Disagreeing with you equates to not caring? ..if I am not beating your candidates' drum I don't care as much as you to beat the fascists?

              That is truly offensive.

              1. She said she wasn’t looking forward to voting for Biden or Hickenlooper.  I took it as she didn’t want to beat Trump and Gardner.  Forgive me if I misinterpreted her downer comment.  It seemed so hopeless and without gusto given that the only goal is to remove these incompetent men from public office regardless of who does it.  Give me a scenario where Romanoff can beat Gardner.  Please tell me how this guy with no money, name recognition or track record is going to take on and take down Gardner?   If you can’t then stop bitching about Hickenlooper and sign up for some GOTV.  Getting elected is more important than pretty progressive policies because if you don’t get elected then your pretty policies mean nothing but if you do then you have a chance of some of them getting implemented.  Don’t be a jerk about not Socialists.  They can win and they will cooperate with each other to help undo the damage the malevolent twins have done.  If you want to win in November and remove Cory Gardner from office then you will vote for John Hickenlooper.

          2. ABT, with enthusiasm

            Let's practice

Hey ! (insert nominee name) is better than bad, they're good.
Wayy better than the crazy guy we got now – so lets vote for the D and get this thing back on track.
I know what you're thinking – but seriously. Let's get that guy out, keep the House and flip the Senate. We can get someone awesome later – do you know about Kate Brown?

            1. Oh, MADCO. I do get the concept of “Fake it til you make it”.
I can read a GOTV script as well as anyone, and smile while I dial. My local party finds me irritating because I speak my mind, but they’ll take their volunteers where they can get them.

For voter reg, I’ll work with and support Voto Latino, because again Dumb Dems are too chickenshit to actually go out and register voters anymore.

For my country, I can do it.

Judgy GG may never understand, trapped as he is in his preconceptions.

              1. Well… the women I've known have said they don't know about faking anything so, you know, I was just checking in.

Vote Latino rocas y el registro de votantes es mucho más grande de lo que la mayoría entiende. Buena contigo!
Si se puede, y otra vez!

  4. I'm surprised by Texas … with 26.44 % Precincts Reporting | 46% expected vote

    Viable candidates are:

    Dem ..Sanders, Bernie …309,689…..28.81%
    Dem ..Biden, Joe …………275,155….25.6%
    Dem ..Bloomberg, Mike.190,545…..17.73%

    1. Biggest loser of the night besides Sanders was Warren.  It just goes to show that being the queen bitch on national television doesn't inspire a lot of confidence that you know how to lead.  She could have handled the situation with more respect and still gotten her points across.  Instead she went full on harpy and it cost her big time.  Especially the second debate with Bloomberg when she wanted to re-litigate his NDA's after he had already rescinded them and released the results of 40 years of review of his HR records.  It made her look mean and uninformed.  People of peace see obstacles instead of enemies.  Warren is a self proclaimed fighter so all she sees are enemies to vanquish.  Joe might be slow but at least he sees obstacles.

      1. That's why Trump didn't win in 2016 against Clinton. He went all Queen Bitch on her in the campaign. Being a Harpy was the absolutely the wrong strategy to build voter turnout.

          1. I'm with you on that, V. I will always hold Comey responsible for sandbagging her at the last minute. Did he want Yammie-pie to win?

            1. I can’t read minds but I can see results.  The last minute comey bashing tipped this in the end.  Hillary would have been a great president.  Instead, we have the worst  ever.
              /p>

        1. Dude! If you are using Trump as your model of behavior and because he got away with it then Warren should have been able to get away with it then your argument sucks.  Right or wrong.  Fair or not.  People don’t like mean women.  Warren lost her race when she decided to try and rip Bloomberg’s nuts off in the first five sentences of the debate.

Imagine for a moment if she had shown a measured approach to the situation and in a John Kerry imitation be a stateswoman and use her time on the stage to engage Bloomberg in a substantive debate about failed policy and employee rights.  She would have come off so much more cooler and still deal with the issue of recognizing bad policies and the social rights of employees.  She made a lot of money attacking Bloomberg but not a lot of friends and in the end politics is a team sport and she revealed herself to be a poor sport.  Her decline has been inevitable since she shredded her own integrity to be a “fighter”.

  5. If Biden gets to the convention with a plurality, will the Bernie Stans be singing the song they were a week ago?

Also, wither all the inevitability and momentum stories about Sanders from a week ago? Smart commenters were noting that the three podunk states leading the race off had a combined Democratic population smaller than Boston (which is a diorama, not a major city.)

  6. GG, you know zip about my enthusiasm, or lack thereof. You “moderates” tend to project an awful lot of negativity towards those with whom you disagree.

I didn’t say I wouldn’t help GOTV…and sure, it will be easy with middle aged to older folks… young people, new voters, it’s going to be much harder. We’ll get a lot of, “ It won’t make any difference”, and “Why bother?”

What are you going to do to help defeat Trump and Gardner, other than scolding progressives?

  7. Interesting thoughtline on Yahoo News this AM. Seems like the horde of younger people flocking to vote for Bernie did not materialize in some states.

      1. They were fucking suppressed, in many cases. In Texas, as Michael wrote, almost all of the polling places with high Latino populations were closed.
People waited for 2-4 hours to vote.  California, same thing. Polls closed at 10- anyone still waiting was told too bad, so sad.
We won’t ever know how many tried to vote.

Cue R&R with some reflux about the Jilliots.

        1. I have a friend who was managing a more local race in Massachusetts for a political client (a Democrat). It was in a heavy-R District and the Republican poll workers managed to slow the voting to almost a crawl. 3-4 hour waits for what should have been a quick trip (his client narrowly lost the race).

          #Merika

        2. I hate voter suppression. Friends who disagree with me can be a delightful intellectual challenge, if they are up to the task of supporting claims with evidence and know the basics of logic and argument, and that  ad hominem insults are neither. Mostly, we agree to disagree, and the friendship endures.

You, on the other hand, are like an annoying venomous insect, that stings for no better reason than because it is his nature to do so.
