“A President needs political understanding to run the government, but he may be elected without it.”

"(CNN) — While other fast food chains are rushing to launch meatless and plant-based options, Dunkin' went in the opposite direction ….
Starting Wednesday, Snackin' Bacon was available at Dunkin' restaurants nationwide. … It's just like it sounds: Eight half-strips of bacon wrapped up in a sleeve."
Finally.
Whew! So relieved that VP Pence will be leading prayer groups against the coronavirus. Was concerned that Trump may have instead appointed Jared Kushner.😆
Relax. If recent history has taught us anything, it’s that it’s a certainty that the long hoped-for miracle cure for this pandemic is only a Sharpie away . . .
Under His Eye……….
This disease, like all the Biblical plagues, is all part of His Plan to separate the wicked from the righteous. Praise be!
Denverite: Urban camping bans survive state house attempt to limit them
Rep. Melton and Benavidez have failed round up enough support for a more modest repeal of urban camping bans. City governments and citizens are still hopeful that their appeals will largely reinstate the bans. On the other side advocates for people who do not find shelters adequate find even this year’s modest repeal insufficiently broad.
Cities like Denver are shooting themselves in the foot by having a blanket ban. Just as with banning cannabis banning something does not make it go away. There will always be a population that is uncomfortable in shelters so there need to be legal camping spaces that are monitored and cleaned up on a predictable schedule instead of sweeps based on complaints. Legalized spaces would take the pressure off the broader ban so that public spaces like the 16th Street Mall do not become encampments that must be cleared every morning. But this sort of experiment should probably come from cities like Denver instead of the state government.
Unfortunately, due to the reluctance to touch the issue Denver is likely to let the courts legislate for it through judgements, appeals, and settlements.
(Urban camping bans)…. back in the mid-1980s, I met the guy who runs the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless. 35 years later, the metro area still has homeless and that guy still draws a nice salary. Maybe the Coalition needs more effective leadership.
And it’s not totally a matter of finding shelters inadequate, some people just prefer the “independence” of living on the streets. When I worked in social services, some staff sometimes joked the best way to deal with Denver’s homeless was to buy one-way bus tickets to Phoenix. That way, those who preferred being on the streets could at least do so in a much warmer place.
A second poll shows Sanders ahead in Colorado, but a tighter race for second than in poll that came out yesterday. Magellan Strategies polled 500 residents. Numbers from 538 with error for sample size added in.
22-32% Sanders
10-20% Warren
7-17% Buttigieg
6-16% Bloomberg
6-16% Biden
1-11% Klobuchar
Averaging the polls and using other metrics to estimate 538 thinks that Sanders will receive around 11.5 and Warren around 3.8 delegates. However, because of the uncertainty around if particular candidate is above or below the 15% cutoff statewide these numbers are likely to be wildly different after the actual vote.
smh
Viability is got to count for something. Oh, wait, delegates.
6-16?
yeah- that’s an 8, and that = 0.00
Monmouth poll shows biden 20 points ahead on eve of sc vote. Bernie,at 16 pct, in second place. No one else viable
It looks like SC is the first place where Joe Bidens’ Obama connection might be making a difference. Clyburns’ remark, “most importantly, Joe knows us”, speaks volumes.
12% undecided in a poll that finished up on the 26th. I'm trying to swear off predictions — but based on previous contests, Steyer may well under-perform his polling.
Utter incompetence and community transmission– the spread of the disease in a way that can't be tied back to a particular vector (individual)– awesome!
Hoping "mother" has some medical experience.
And just as icing on the cake … a confirmed Japanese case that was in the "recovered" category was sent back to the hospital. Suggesting we don't know nearly enough to have a clue about what the disease is going to do.
WOTD from Robert Reich at Newsweek: "BERNIE'S PLANS ARE AMBITIOUS. BUT THEIR COSTS ARE PEANUTS COMPARED TO THE PRICE OF INACTION"
What is the cost of NOT doing M4A?
What is the cost of NOT doing the GND?
Unfortunately, we don't make medical system choices based on a single study predicting costs & benefits.
For example, we now have a Medicare system implemented in 1965 and modified multiple times since then. It doesn't cover as much as M4A. It doesn't cost as much as M4A. And we have projections now that the main trust fund is going to be underwater as soon as 2027, able to pay 91% of present benefit levels (and declining into further until at least 2045).
Be paitent, jeez.
It's going to take a few minutes to figure out a profitable process. As soon as big pharma/ big insurance and White House (CMS) figures it out – you will be directed accordingly.
For now – activate some clear credit cards with no balance.
"HHS Secretary Azar: 'I'm still chairman of the task force' on coronavirus after Trump says Pence is leading response"
https://www.cnn.com/2020/02/26/politics/alexander-azar-coronavirus-chairman-task-force/index.html
"Azar's comments came after CNN reported earlier Wednesday that Trump had privately expressed frustration with his HHS secretary, accusing Azar of not keeping him updated enough."
"The immediate risk to the American public is and continues to be low," he said at the briefing."
How is this guy not the acting chairman-secretary?
Does this guy want to get fired? or replaced? Pence is in charge now.
buh-bye, Azar.
Azar needs to seize the White House podium a la Alexander Haig circa March 1981, and declare, "I'm in charge here!"
"Did 35-year-old Baby Boomers simply work 500 percent harder than the lazy, entitled, snowflake Millennials of today? Were they simply 500 percent smarter? You’ll run into those arguments, mostly from handfuls of right-wing Baby Boomers. But the data doesn’t back them up."

Nah… boomers were just superior.
Mandela thanked me.
Goddam, Joe. Telling lies on Madiba.
Was Neil Kinnock with Joe when he was nearly arrested but only separated at the airport?
Is this going to be like Hillary's Sniper-gate incident?
Or Elizabeth Warren's Native American ancestry?
You know, not really an outright lie but an exaggeration.
A lie.
Biden’s ridiculous claim he was arrested trying to see Mandela
Edit: I should temper this; it’s fundamentally untrue. I think it’s possible Biden believes that it happened because his mental acuity is declining.
