Perlmutter Money Still Coming Strong

  • by: Colorado Pols

Democrat Peggy Lamm may have the momentum in the race for the nomination in CD-7, but Ed Perlmutter isn’t slowing down on fundraising. Perlmutter has several fundraising events scheduled and his fundraising team believes they will be able to double the TV ad buy that Lamm makes. Former Democratic State Party Chair Tim Knaus is also heading a 527 fund that will support Perlmutter’s candidacy, and there is talk that the 527 will outspend whatever EMILYs List does for Lamm by a significant margin.

Lamm is still the favorite here, as numerous polls have shown (if that wasn’t the case, surely Perlmutter’s camp would release their own poll proving they were ahead), but if Perlmutter outspends Lamm by such a significant margin, he’ll be able to close the gap quickly. If Democrat Herb Rubenstein fades in the next couple of weeks, Perlmutter will also be able to take advantage of the one-on-one matchup with Lamm.
