He Wants to Be Your Superhero

Republican Mark Baisley is upset at fellow Republican Ted Harvey, with whom he is involved in a heated primary in SD-30,?over…frankly, we really don’t understand the press release, but this line is funny:

Instead of talking about the substantive things that separate Ted and me, Harvey makes up an imaginary world of super-villains with himself in the role of superhero.

The campaign of former Senate District 30 Chairman and current Senate District 30 candidate Mark Baisley today asked Rep. Ted Harvey to pull false information linked to the Harvey web site that illegally states that ?establishment multi-millionaires? upset with Harvey?s pro-life stance are funding the Baisley campaign.?

?

?Ted obviously doesn?t keep up with the news or talk to many pro-life activists,? Baisley deadpanned. Baisley is being supported by an impressive array of pro-life leaders and has worked on putting together a pro-life summit to build an effective partnership for his terms in the Colorado Senate.?

?

?Mark is the consistent social and economic conservative. He has practiced his beliefs all his life,? said Senator John Evans of Parker, a Roman Catholic, pro-life legislator. Harvey was endorsed by NARAL when Evans defeated him in Harvey?s previous Senate race.?

?

The Baisley campaign also renewed its call for Harvey to step down from the position of Assistant Minority Leader and called upon the House Minority Leader, Rep. Mike May, to ask Harvey to resign in light of Harvey?s irresponsible comments.?

?

?Ted is so desperate to revive his failing political career that his campaign strategy revolves around inventing an evil cabal that wants him out because he?s pro-life. We want him out because he?s not an effective advocate of the causes he says he cares about. And the comments on his web site just prove it,? said Baisley.?

?

Baisley added: ?Instead of talking about the substantive things that separate Ted and me, Harvey makes up an imaginary world of super-villains with himself in the role of superhero. The voters of the district want real reasons for them to vote for candidates and all Harvey can give them is Ultra-Ted vs. the Millionaires,? added Baisley.?

?

?Shame on Ted for making up such things,? said Pat Miller, former President of Citizens for Responsible Government, one of the most active pro-life groups in Colorado. Miller has endorsed Baisley?s candidacy. ?Unfortunately, campaigns can bring out the worst in people.? When you can?t find something bad to write about your opponent, you make it up.? As a fundraising ploy, it?s heartbreaking. The Mark Baisley I know is a humble, God-fearing man. Mark has worked hard over the last few months to put together a pro-life summit. This is just part of the reason why I have to support Baisley instead of Harvey,? she concluded.?

?

Phillip Hendrix, a long-time Christian activist from Douglas County, agreed: ?The pro-life movement doesn?t need politicians that pander to us rather than propose real solutions to the problems we face on life issues. We would be better served if our elected officials would show some measure of wisdom, morality and courage, and become more effective advocates of Godly causes rather than vacillate between right and wrong.??

?

Baisley believes that the tactics used by Harvey are ethically and morally questionable.?

?

?It shows a disturbing pattern of behavior with Ted,? Baisley said of the website comments. ?He lobbies to replace Tancredo and when called on it, he says he didn?t do it. He pulls strings to get elected to House leadership to help his ailing campaign and when asked about it he denies all knowledge. He campaigns on getting tough on illegal immigration, yet votes in favor of the Western Governor?s Association?s amnesty proposal.???

  1. […] We’ve posted before on this feud between Republicans Ted Harvey and Mark Baisley, who are locked in a primary in SD-30, mostly becauseВ we’re entertained byВ the press releases sent out by Baisley’s campaign. The Baisley camp is trying to make a big deal out of something that, frankly, is really difficult to understand. Take the first paragraph of their latest press release, for example: […]
