As it stands now, Donald Trump is about to become only the third President in American history to be successfully impeached by the U.S. House. The impeachment proceedings in the House have proven the worst fears of the brave American public servants and patriots who knew instantly that Trump’s attempt to bribe a foreign government for help in winning re-election in 2020 was a terrible crime for which Trump deserves the highest political penalty.

Now it’s up to us to make sure our leaders in Washington know that Colorado agrees: Trump must be removed from office.

In a public town hall meeting held last Friday in Denver, Senator Michael Bennet said he is a “likely vote” to remove Trump from office in a Senate trial. Colorado’s other Senator Cory Gardner, by contrast, refuses to even acknowledge that what Trump stands accused of is wrong. Sen. Gardner hasn’t held a town hall to explain himself to Colorado voters in over two years. Meanwhile, Gardner endorsed Trump’s re-election and has even helped host fundraisers for Trump’s re-election while at the same time accepting campaign help and cash from Trump, whom Gardner could be sitting in judgment over in a Senate trial next year.

Priority #1 this week is to call Sen. Gardner’s office at (202) 224-5941 and tell him that Colorado voters expect Trump to be removed from office–and if Gardner helps protect Trump in a Senate trial, he will share Trump’s fate in the 2020 election.

Thanks for taking action once again to hold Cory Gardner accountable. It is frustrating to realize that the odds of Gardner changing course are very small, and most likely the only way to undo the damage of the past four years will be the next election. Nonetheless, Sen. Gardner needs to understand that the voters of Colorado are paying attention–and accountability is coming soon.

2019 Colorado Gives Day Rally

Join Denver7’s Mike Nelson and more than 100 Colorado-based nonprofits at the Colorado Gives Day Kick-Off Rally on Giving Tuesday, Tuesday, Dec. 3 on the West Steps of the Colorado State Capitol Building. This event will help celebrate and build momentum for Colorado Gives Day on Dec. 10. The Colorado Gives Day Kick-Off Rally is being held on Dec. 3, which is Giving Tuesday, a day that encourages and inspires generosity across the country. In Colorado, residents are encouraged to “give where you live” on Giving Tuesday, by scheduling their Colorado Gives Day donations.

Community Conversation – Caring for Denver Foundation

Last year, Denver residents voted overwhelmingly to put 25 cents from every hundred dollars spent into a community fund for mental health and substance misuse issues. Caring for Denver Foundation is the new nonprofit founded to identify the priorities for these dollars. We need your help figuring out where the dollars should be focused and what the needs are in Denver.

Census 2020 Webinar | Taller Informativo sobre el Censo de 2020

The decennial census is so important because it is tied to funding programs that our community relies on. For every person that was counted in Colorado in the 2010 census, the federal government allocated $2,300 to improve our schools, healthcare, housing and much more. Projects such as Title 1 educational programs, Headstart, WIC, free and reduced breakfast and lunch, and Medicaid/Medicare are funded because of census data. This is why CIRC’s #CountingOnYou census initiative is more important than ever. When the census is inaccurate, communities that are most in need of representation and investment are underfunded. Black, brown and Asian American families need to come together to correct historical undercounts of our communities.

At the Intersections: Reproductive Justice and Sexual Violence

This webinar will explore the connections between reproductive oppression and sexual violence and discrimination. We will highlight the work towards advancing reproductive justice for underserved communities as well as its connection to the movement to eliminate violence against folks. Participants will be engaging in learning ways to address violence and discrimination within sexual and reproductive health services. Together we will explore community response and resources developed.

Denver Climate Strike

The climate crisis is all around us: intensifying storms, hurricanes, heatwaves and wildfires, slow-burning disasters like drought and famine, and so much more. And the costs are paid for in the lives and livelihoods of those least responsible for causing the problem. The Colorado Youth Climate Coalition will be joining national strikes on December 6th 2019. We will meet by the fountains on Wynkoop in front of Union Station at 11am on December 6th, then march down the 16th street mall to the west steps of the Denver Capitol building. Come strike with us!

The Marigold Project: People Power

Join The Marigold Project, along with our partner organizations and activists on Saturday, December 7 in Denver at INDUSTRY Brighton Boulevard! Participants will attend panels and engage in meaningful dialogue to understand the importance of building alliances across social movements. Facilitation and training will be led by Stasha Rhodes of The Hub Project, with a keynote address by Jahmal Cole of My Block, My Hood, My City. In the afternoon, we will dig deeper on how we hold ourselves accountable to this work. Featuring session leaders from across the country and right here in Colorado, our goal is to build community and capacity as we seek a vision of a world that values people and our planet.

Saturday Postcard Event in SoBo Lucky’s Market Cafe

Every Saturday, we invite activists as well as political, municipal and school board candidates to come mingle and do something meaningful together: writing postcards! This Saturday, we will be writing holiday postcards for detainees in Aurora Immigration Detention Center. Let’s send some holiday cheers to detained immigrants and show them that 𝘄𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲.
