“We are volcanoes. When we women offer our experience as our truth, as human truth, all the maps change. There are new mountains.”
― Ursula K. LeGuin
I am almost dumbfounded by the rapidity with which this situation is exploding in the ODs' face. Pompeo…Nunes…Pence….Mulvaney…..and who knows who else? They were all complicit.
Nunes met with Lutsenko?…Well…well.
Everything Ttump touches dies . . .
. . . but the very best so far has gotta’ be the imaginary dairy farmer:
. . . I scored him at 9.50 for style.
(Nunes’s routine could have easily scored a flawless 10.00, but, unbelievably, he completely forgot the required kick to the reporter on his dismount — half-point mandatory penalty deduction . . .)
I thought you might take off points for not having good hair, a ready smile, and an easy way to say "I've already answered that question."
Oh wait … that's the SENATE competition.
Isn’t Nunes supposed to be a Christian? What the hell does he mean, “The next lifetime”?
When he comes back as a cockroach, he still isn’t answering any questions from CNN? Not even a little antennae wiggle?
When he is asked to ‘splain his trips to get dirt on Biden, will he testify or risk contempt charges?
Maybe he is a Jehovas' Witness. As I understand it, they believe they will come back to earth as immortal kings to rule over a utopia. …which must be incredibly boring.
Needless to say I suppose, but he is a scurrilous bastard and a lying fuck. These Christian asshats are really giving Jesus a bad name.
It’s becoming clearer as more evidence is pried from the hands of the Trump administration that the reason they refuse to honor subpoenas of witnesses and documents is that they have no exculpatory evidence to offer.

For something different — I would like to recommend everyone to go see the movie, "Jo Jo Rabbit". It was one of the best movies I have ever seen, and one of the hardest to describe. Suffice to say it's about a ten year old boy who has embraced the Nazi philosophy, like nearly everyone else in Germany in 1944, but undergoes epiphanies in a Coen brothers movie sort of way. It's best if you walk in without much information.
It's pertinent to the Pols community as America is facing its own "cult of personality", propaganda, and denial of facts.
You will love this movie, or I'm not Itlduso.
@itlduso: You are right on the money. Unfortunately, the ones who really need to watch this movie are the hanger-ons to the GOP. Then they would need to understand the implications, which for many would simply go over their heads.
This is too absurd not to share. These people are dumber than a sack of hammers:

That doesn't surprise me. When Nixon left office in 1974, there was still about 22% of the US electorate who thought he got a raw deal. I was in high school at the time, but I remember people saying, "Everyone else did it" or "Better a competent crook than a bumbling idiot."
Since then we've had a couple more generations of stupidity nurtured by the crap they watch on TV followed by the Internet and social media. I do not doubt that when he eventually leaves office (hopefully on 1/20/21), there will still be at least one-third of the country believing he was railroaded.
Past, present and future; Donald Trump is still President, and there is nothing you can do about it, except vote in November 2020.
If only he lied about consensual sex with an adult not his wife.
Or ran trillion dollar deficits.
Or acknowledged committing a felony or felonies.
OTOH – 2016 Colorado voted D for president. And the R voters in Colorado were losers.
Some things won't change.
Well, we can't do anything about Trump as voters, given Republican toleration of criminal acts. But God might still answer the prayers of humankind. Any more frantic trips to Walter Reed? A Wilson-style stroke might put Mike Pence in power. He's no liberal. But he isn't a traitor like Trump either.
There are no certainties in this life, other than the fact that under all circumstances, Trump stinks.
And so does treason.
Pence was in the loop – and just as much above the law.
He is on a mission from God and it ain't about paying past due proprty taxes for some Catholic orphanage.
Pence has many flaws. But he would not have sent our loyal allies, the Kurds, to their deaths to gain a few bucks from Erdogan. Trump is a traitor. Pence would be far better.
I would prefer "Madame President Pelosi".
Pence is as dishonest as anyone else in the Whitest House. His fundamentalist POV is far too close to that of the American Taliban. Why should he get a pass? Is he "a crook too far"? How many times must this criminal family trample the Constitution and the welfare of the American people before they are held accountable?
Everybody would prefer Pelosi, but short of a coup, your choices now are Pence and a traitor. Given that choice, I take Pence until I can swear in Amy.
Your point being we have a senate majority and an executive branch as corrupt, shameful, ignorant, greedy, self-interested, venal, and in many cases as criminally involved and unconcerned with the well-being of the country and the rule of law, as the dopish bratish ego they slither to serve?
Yay team!
Oh, you could not be more wrong. We can continue to push for the truth, call out your leaders'lies, catalog his criminal behavior, prosecute and imprison his henchmen….you know…like that.
You and the rest of your mindless tribe have lost your moral compass completely. Your idol is an egocentric bully. His heart is as cold as his angry glare.
You have no defense against the truth of his attacks on the Constitution and the American people. All you have is your resentment and an allegiance to an imposter.
Eh, I think it’s pretty much beyond question that Herr Pfruit can always find some way be more wrong . . .
Point taken…😋
Have to ask if Elway will go against Sh*t For Brains (SFB) and hire a good quarterback? I hear he sent a scout to see a real QB show off his skills. But, when you are a good cult member you do not go against the cult leader and his desire to punish Black or Brown people. Will Elway bring the Bronco's back to life or let them fall to the level of the Washington team (the name is an abomination).
Yes I am offended by the guy in the WH and how his racism has changed people who used to be decent into racists.
Elway? Admit he is wrong and do something different?
Hahahahaha
But he won two Superbowls and allowed Von to get his. So he can never be wrong again.
He's a terrible GM/POFO/ whatever.
There is an argument, NastyWoman, that they were never all that decent but at least they held their racism in check because it was socially unacceptable.
The hope was that after a couple of generations of adults keeping their racism in check and behaving like decent people, their children would grow up not hearing as much of that stuff and might evolve into non-racists.
Sadly, Trump's election was the blowing of the lid off Hillary Clinton's proverbial "basket of deplorables" allowing them to crawl out and infect the country with a newfound legitimacy.
^^^this^^^
R & R’s spot on.Those people didn't "used to be decent". They used to hide their racism to get along in polite society, but it was always there.Yammie-pie has just given them permission to let their indecency flag fly.
Delightful discovery of the weekend:
WAPO: White House review turns up emails showing extensive effort to justify Trump’s decision to block Ukraine military aid
White House Counsel Cipollone versus Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney … I hope to see the cage match continue.
One source I read referred to it as "reverse engineering". No matter what fancy title may be applied, they are making it up as they go along, shitting bricks and throwing them at each other.
The "West Point Mafia" is squaring off with the joint chiefs. Anyone have a read on the balance of power there? Does the OD have enough of his own generals?
yawn
