Why I'm Running for the U.S. Senate and Why I'm Unaffiliated

In the past, I’ve voted both Republican and Democrat thinking that their platforms would “fix” what was wrong.

I’ve always been a registered Democrat because I liked how the Democrats supported social issues like our seniors, our communities, our schools and the environmental.

I supported Bill Clinton because he was fiscally responsible and he balanced the budget. However, when Obama came into office, things shifted and we detoured into “out-of-control” spending and a move toward socialism. I also saw more government intrusion into big and small business, our daily lives and massive bailouts for failing auto, insurance and financial institutions. I’ve witnessed Obama’s failure to keep his promises. For example, 3 years later, our military is still in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Because of my growing dissatisfaction with the Democrats, I voted Republican in the last election. The traditional Republican values that are deeply rooted in the Constitution such as separation of church and state, state’s rights and the bill of rights have always been important to me. I agreed with their position on fiscal responsibility, the military, national security, smaller government, and less taxes. However, I found them to be insensitive to the social issues that really matter which they tend to call “entitlements”.

I changed my voter registration to “Unaffliated” because I was dissatisfied with both parties.

I saw the economic downturn due to irresponsible fiscal decisions in November, 2008

The Obama administration proceeded on a path of creating a wide series of bailouts and stimulus plans which spiraled our national debt into the trillions of dollars in 2009.

Then in 2010, things got crazier with healthcare and Wall Street reform. This, to me, was absolute insanity. I realized that no Democrat or Republican would fix this because they were a big part of the problem. What I saw being created was something that would not only contribute to out-of-control spending but would destroy businesses and jobs.

Party politics was becoming intensified and the two parties were bickering and in constant gridlock. Like the people of Colorado, I felt I was being ignored by both parties. They were only listening to their party leadership and using everything and everyone as a political pawn in an insane game of chess. Who was listening to the “little guy”, like me?

I knew that electing another Republican or Democrat would continue with the same old game which was insane. So, I went out and talked to thousands and thousands of people seeing if they felt like me and could accept an unaffiliated for Colorado US Senate, and I heard the same thing over and over from members of both parties. I realized that because I was Unaffiliated, that I was the one to take on this battle.

It may seem like a “lost cause”, but someone has to fight for the “little guy”. I’m a fighter and I’m not afraid of what may seem to be impossible.

I know I can stop the insanity and that’s why I’m running for the U.S. Senate!

  1. We’re busy having a “discussion” here, and it only involves throwing invectives back and forth between Romanoff and Bennet supporters.

This room is booked until then.

(Seriously, you’re going to get lost in the mudfest until after the primary.)
