  1. And, from California. Filed under: you can't make this shit up.

Don Junior ventured on to the University of California’s overwhelmingly liberal Los Angeles campus on Sunday, hoping to prove what he had just argued in his book – that a hate-filled American left was hell-bent on silencing him and anyone else who supported the Trump presidency.

But the appearance backfired when his own supporters, diehard Make America Great Again conservatives —who believe the Trump administration has been taken captive by a cabal of internationalists, free-traders, and apologists for mass immigration—, raised their voices most loudly in protest and ended up drowning him out barely 20 minutes into an event scheduled to last two hours.

    Some analysis at https://thebulwark.com/the-alt-right-turns-on-the-gop-establishment/

    1. my favorite part

"Guilfoyle, forced to shout to make herself heard, told students in the crowd: “You’re not making your parents proud by being rude and disruptive.”"

Raised Catholic – twice divorced, and started dating her current boyfriend, Don Jr. while he was still married – she may know how to make parents proud. Maybe not.

  2. Hahahahahahahahaha

Peter King stood head & shoulders above everyone else

He’s been principled & never let others push him away from his principles

He’s fiercely loved America, Long Island, and his Irish heritage and left a lasting mark on all 3

I will miss him in Congress & value his friendship https://t.co/GSXizZ2c5D

    Hahahahaha.  Fuck these Democrats.

      1. I mean…

Politicians, Community Leaders Denounce Rep. Peter King's Use of Derogatory Term

National defense and homeland security are issues that mean the most to me and there's real issues with him, real problems with his views,” King said. “I don't know if he's thought them through, or it's just like the guy at the end of the bar that says, ‘Oh screw them, bomb them, kill them, pull out, bring them home. You know, why pay for the Japs, why pay for the Koreans?'

Republican Peter King compares NFL protests to 'players giving Nazi salutes'

A Republican congressman from New York on Saturday said NFL player protests over police brutality and racial injustice were “premised on lies”, and compared the action of kneeling during the playing of the national anthem to “players giving Nazi salutes” or “spewing racism”.

How Pete King learned to stop worrying and love the Donald

King took offense at Trump blaming President George W. Bush for the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, and by Super Tuesday, King told the Daily News he may have to get out of politics if Trump were to win the Republican nomination.

“There’s not many Republicans in Congress supporting President Trump on the gut issues,” he says. “How many are out there defending him on Russia? Defending him on the travel ban? So that’s why those issues are gut issues I support him on … I’ll go against him, but I’m going to put my emphasis on defending him.”

Even some Democrats see this as good strategy. “He wears that mantle of being the safety and security guy,” Jerry Kremer, a former Long Island assemblyman, says of King. “And I think that most people beyond that don’t pay attention to what he does.”

King’s support for Trump certainly goes beyond the screen. He voted for the American Health Care Act and has voted in agreement with the president’s positions 91 percent of the time, according to FiveThirtyEight.

        Those are some powerful principles.

        1. Not to mention King's fawning over the Irish Republican Army, in the grand "white terrorism = good, brown terrorism = bad" style. Not gonna miss this fucker at all. Hopefully the openly white supremacist King follows suit soon.

    1. Sudafed, as always, shows the grace and stature of a carrion bird.   Peter King was a worthy foe in a party now dominated by lickspittles and grave robbers.

  3. Schumer might have a future as a writer of obituaries.  His basic attitude appears to be "speak nothing but good for the recently (or soon to be) departed."  Followed by "if you can't say something nice, say nothing at all."

    1. Or, just say nothing.

I don't understand the compulsion to laud these people.  I don't expect Schumer to photoshop a poop emoji onto King's head and tweet it, but it's fine to just not tweet, Chuck.

  4. Thanks to our veteran-farmers, who make up 11% of the US farmer demographic.

Shifting gears from Alabama black farmers last week to attending the ABA Agricultural Bankers Conference this week to give a presentation on hemp.  This morning we had an in-depth overview of our current trade policy / tariffs by former Chief Agricultural Negotiator, US Trade Representative (USTR) and Deputy Undersecretary, USDA, Darci Vitter.  This conference is populated by rural bankers, conservative by nature.  As Darci walked through the nuances of TPP, challenges at WTO, tariffs (particularly those put in place early through the 'threat to national security) there were a lot of shaking heads and some disbelief.  There is no China 'deal'; there might be a truce.  What's in the $50bb number the Administration banters? Over how many years?  If short term it will create a surplus in China that triggers other world treaties and would be challenged. USMCA? Any trade gain will be negligible.  It's passage is only important for psychological reasons, getting us 'back to business' with our strategic partners.  US-Japan  mini-deal? Australia and Canada have already stepped to the plate and garnered the bulk of beef and wheat opportunities.

We no longer have a foothold in SE Asia because we walked away; the tendency for this administration to look to low-hanging fruit is almost always at the expense of agriculture opportunities.   We spent 30 years building a relationship with China to trade soybeans with them before they took a single shipment; that market isn't coming back.  We're left with the crumbs of Brazil's second-tier customers now.

I could write two more paragraphs on the nuances of what we're doing to the WTO appellate judge panel (which has almost always ruled in our favor), that the new poultry deal will only last until the current swine fever issue is resolved or that regarding TPP, which was 1000 pages long, only 20 provisions were set aside and it was adopted nearly in whole cloth by the remaining signatories.  Through a procedural move Japan has left us a 'parking space', but in the meantime the EU is making big moves into this market.

In the Q&A she was asked how long did she thing the Market Facilitation Payments would have to last? (the subsidies being paid to corn and soybean farmers because of the trade war).  The answer: 7-10 years.

A lot of shaking heads, sighs, mumbling.  These bankers are on the front line of this disaster and they were getting a dose of reality.  The banker next to me said, "we're going to look like welfare recipients".

This is our new (rural) America.

    1. It should be a jolly ol' time at the U.S. Farm Report this Sunday. There seems to be a growing awareness on the part of lots of country folk that they have been betrayed…

      …because they have been.

  5. This week on, As the GOP Turns, . . .

. . . “Ok, yeah, sure of course the Ukrainian interference theory regarding the 2016 is incoherent, unsubstantiated, and debunked.  But, so what?  President Ttump truly sincerely believed this nonsense.

So, therefore his actions regarding Ukraine reflect his well-documented belief, and his legitimate desire to root out the corruption he believed existed.”
